If he is involved in the whole system then this is a good move. It seems like ZC really have given Houghton the power to build a team for the future how he sees fit.
Chivanga is old but for me Ngarava is the one who can be turned into something special if he develops a legit inswinger. I also think he could bowl slightly quicker if he works on it. Evans too.
There are other guys like Macheka who are quick (even though some people accuse him of chucking). My hope is that we move from a team which was barely surviving using spinners to having a culture of fast bowling dominate our circuit. There are probably less than 10 guys in our system who play spin comfortably anyway.

Re: ZIMBABWE BOWLING COACH
I got a question. If genuine fast bowling really is genetic were ZC wrong for trying to scout the country for some fast bowlers? Even in areas where there was no cricket being played? They tried that a few years ago and were widely criticized for doing so.ZIMDOGGY wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 9:13 pmIn all seriousness, Chivanga needs to be persisted with.
I was going to make a thread about this, but I’ll piggyback this instead.
Bowling is largely genetic, and he can crack out speeds of 145 km/hr. We haven’t seen a nigga since Blignaut pull that shit.
Maybe aside from Aliseni, he’s the second quickest bowler we have ever seen….
For a GOOD coach, this should be akin to a paedophile at a wiggles concert. A lot to work with.
Great way of sinking into a raw bowler to make a star.

It's a good question, but it will take one hell of an eye and understanding on the ingredients of a fast bowler.TapsC2 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 7:13 amI got a question. Any actual cricketers would surely have been known.
So if they were to identify someone from the bush, they would have to watch him bowl in the knowledge he might not be a player, or good enough to make any team.
Was Streak simply looking for 6'5 athletes?

Re: ZIMBABWE BOWLING COACH
Ya that was a gimmick in my view. What you see here is most guys bowling well within themselves. Maybe a combination of bilharzia, covid, fitness and a shit diet.
You'll see guys bowling a bit quicker now because it's suddenly a slightly more competitive environment.

I believe 'officially' he is starting after the world cup. Although I wouldn't be surprised if he travels with the squad, along with the current 'interim' coach Ncube.
