Hmm I have a feeling that if SA are in the qualifiers they will push to host it. They have everything

If we do host I think Bulawayo would be our best bet. Lose the toss in Harare against Joseph, Chameera or the SA attack... game over.

I doubt they would change the host country at such short notice, especially if Mukhu is the new ICC chairman

Ya that toss thing at HSC is monumental. Any idea why not a single game has been played there for a while?
I'd like to think they're trying to figure out how to solve that issue. If I were them I'd pick 3 or 4 decks there and re-lay them.

I'm doing some reading about these qualifiers and trying to wrap my head around a few things-
We're hosting 10 teams?
That's a massive undertaking. What grounds are we using?
What format will it be? Two groups presumably, round Robin amongst the groups?
Will it be televised?
DRS?
June July is dead winter, cold and unbelievably dry and shorter days.

I also read somewhere that there was a danger that one of the teams from the Super League teams could end up playing in the tier below. I now can't find that article, but it has alarmed me big time. We're on the back foot and playing for survival most times we take to the field.

From a quick skim we are likely to encounter
South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, UAE, Jersey.

This is going to be our toughest task yet.
Any two of South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies will be there, not all three.

I also have a feeling that RSA will somehow arrange for those 3 ODIs against Australia if they don't make the top 8 in the next 5 games.

ZIM hosted the last Qualifier and it was also 10 teams. So shouldn't be a problem this time around. Although I think some of the teams may have complained about poor facilities for training and or accomodation (???).

I am sure its going to be 10 teams split into two groups of 5, so every team plays 4 games, and then probably a Super 6 stage of probably 3 more games for each team with the top 2 going to the final and qualifying. It will probably be the same format as 2018.

Yeah its going to be a cutthroat tourney. Lots of quality teams unlike the last time where it was just WI, AFG, ZIM, and IRE plus 6 teams to just make up the numbers.

ZIM have 12 ODIs scheduled between now and the WCQ. 6 against Afghanistan (two seperate series), 3 each vs Netherlands and Ireland. The series vs Afghans and Irish should have been 5 match series, and that would have been a very healthy 18 games before the Qualifiers.

It appears as though Chakabva is now out of the 15 man squad I had posted at beginning of the thread. Who would replace him? Probably a toss up between Richmond Mutumbami and Clive Madande.

I assume we will use the same grounds as last time. HSC, Queens, BSC, OH.
I guess the same format aas last time
It was televised last time too, so one would think so.
I can't recall if we had DRS last time, but if we do, it would only be at HSC

There was no DRS last time, and I think it cost the Scots qualification vs Windies.

Last time not all the games were televised, I would imagine this time there will at least be some form of ICC stream for every match. Has to be since all matches have ODI status. Last time only the games featuring top 16 sides had ODI status.

Only the Super 6 games (plus two Windies group games)

I remember furiously refreshing my phone for Twitter updates from Merna Cremer during both the Afghanistan & Scotland thrillers.

I can’t ever remember enjoying supporting Zimbabwe more than during that tournament. Playing matches that actually meant something at home in front of full crowds, it really was a great time.
