T20 Rebuild
Re: T20 Rebuild
Marumani has a great eye (but so does every single other top order bat at this level), but he plays some real low percentage shots. Swings and misses a lot and somehow gets away with it. Something about him though.
Re: T20 Rebuild
I would have wagered him to have two good innings this world cup. Unlike say a chakhabva who cant buy a run.
Ervine is actually the reason why we qualified. In a low scoring chase against scotland he kept his cool with a measured 57. Hats off to him for that. A real captains innings.
Thats probably the only good thing i can say regarding Captain slug though.
He will struggle against big sides because he is static at the crease and makes no attempt to upset their rhythm. Hell when the ball was swinging today he should have had a big of nouse and at least batted outside of the crease to negate the swinging ball, maybe even create some full tosses. He has been as wooden as they come
Re: T20 Rebuild
I don't mind a guy keeping still on his crease. A lit to be said for it especially opening. His problem is his instinct is to dab or defend anything top of off or 4th. He doesn't seem to have an attacking shot there. Good bowlers will keep him quiet. That anchor role is perfect and a low scoring chase is what he's made for. The second he has to go harder he's in trouble. Back of a length on or outside off and he's going for singles. Everyone has done their homework at this level.
Re: T20 Rebuild
I found the pro 50 stats on the ZC app under leaderboard.
NW was top 3 and played two less games and by his standards had a disappointing couple of weeks. Threw away two hundreds, two really soft dismissals and one dubious LBW. He was quite impressed with the standard of everything, particularly the fielding. He complained about the left right combo with Marumani, he says he has to suck up the good deliveries and the leftie gets the pies
He was very impressed with Maru and wondered how Chibhaba never made more runs internationally, said he was damned good.

Maybe I'm wrong, are we talking about this Ben Curran: https://www.espncricinfo.com/player/ben-curran-910695secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 2:29 pmHe hasn't played a single innings in his senior career so far that suggests this, and he's 26 years old. So unless you have personally spent a lot of time with him in the nets, I suppose you are guessing based on his name and heritage.andrea lanzoni wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 2:02 pmI don't agree on B.Curran. He is certainly not on his brothers level, but he is certainly better, much better, of other players who are in the national squad now.
He's a hope for the future maybe, but he's just had a very poor Pro50 and will need to find a hot streak of form quite soon.
The debate always goes back to 'overseas' guys unfortunately. I would be more interested to hear peoples thoughts on players from domestic cricket.

^ Yes. He's yet to score a professional century in nearly 100 innings.
I back him to come good and I hope he does. But it's unfair on everyone else for you to say, now, that you think he's much better than the guys currently in our national squad. There's no evidence to say that unless you've spent a lot of time working with him personally.

Yeah, Justice had as much talent as anyone. Bit of a mystery why he never made it at international level but I've heard enough about his questionable attitude over the years which may explain it.Googly wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 4:28 pmI found the pro 50 stats on the ZC app under leaderboard.

Is your friend Welch interested in coming back and representing national squad in not too distant future?
