It really doesn’t have that much appeal from a tourist perspective.
It definitely does. People are not just travelling for the cricket. The idea of supporting their team and going on a safari, whilst also visiting a natural wonder of the world would have appeal, mostly to the Western nations, so in the world of cricket, that's only 2, maybe 3 nations.

It's an appealing idea to people who could be considering or wanting to travel to Africa.

I agree that a stadium in Vic Falls isn't really a good idea and rather invest in our current stadiums and actually build proper floodlights at HSC, not that "only shine on the middle" crap we got in the T10.

Well if you had included the rest of my post in the quote you would see that was kind of my point. Only England or India amongst cricket nations would be big enough markets and we play them once a decade or something.

Bangladesh , Ireland or Afghanistan aren’t bringing 5,000 cricket fan tourists to Zimbabwe just because we are playing a T20 with no context on some land 10km from the falls

It's easy to be upset when you misunderstand my post a bit. I never said those countries are bringing big fans and I doubt ZC would play them at that venue. Australia would bring a decent number of fans to Vic Falls. If anything, it would maybe have to be a tri nations kind of series.

Again, i don't agree with the idea, but when have ZANU or ZC ever made anything sensible since 2000

That's the thing. We rarely play the teams who would bring tourists

Looks like this is going ahead. I knew it would be too much to resist.
In terms of money disappearing vs doing something useful they'd be better off attempting to build a space shuttle or a nuclear power plant.
We already have a Zimbabwe Space Agency, I'm sure they advise Elon Musk daily.

I can't emphasise enough what a monumental disaster this is. The committees to choose the committees to select the committee to meet with the Board of this dodgy investment board will chew up millions. Then we'll see 300 visits to Vic Falls just to choose the site and then ground breaking ceremonies attended by pointy shoe people. Then the shenanigans after that are going to destroy us. Watch the next 10 million loan coming from Bvute.
I could write pages about how this will break us.

That money spent here in Harare would get us back on the cricketing map. I feel sick to my stomach about what's coming and lost opportunity. Shame on them!!

"Mainly grants from the ICC" hmmm I'm really beginning to suspect that the corruption and money laundering in the ICC might be worse than what FIFA was busted for a few years ago. No way we are getting those grants without strings attached.

Imagine investing that money on stadiums where cricket is actually played. Imagine us having world class structures in Mutare and Kwekwe etc. Even Masvingo.

Or just really focusing on building a world class academy. The annual report did say they building 1 so maybe they just have a lot of extra money lying around with the bigger allocation.

Bvute will be nodding his head in admiration.
What a monumental disaster.
The Chitungwiza Aquatics complex was an infinitely better idea, at least its in a place where somebody might want to breed frogs one day.
