Why do they persist with Wes in the t20 format ? It's mind boggling

I think Mayavo deserves a chance. Since the days of Heath Streak they have been hyping him up as the best gloveman in the country. There is a reason why some countries/domestic teams prefer a good keeper who averages in the mid to late twenties. Those dropped catches and missed chances in the longer format can really come back to haunt you. It wouldn't be the worst idea to see how that scenario works out.

If they make a deal with Higgins, If Naqvi gets his passport, if BT still has what it takes....and lot of ifs, these are the second class citizens they've got to choose from

BT, Williams, Ervine, Raza, Ali, Faraz, Naqvi, Burl, Curran, Bennett, Campbell, Campbell Jr, Welch, Welch Jr, Frost, Frost Jr, Evans and Higgins. I may have forgotten a couple, that's at least 18 decent players.

I'm not suggesting these are our best batters, but they surely make up the bulk of them.

That T20 squad surely has to be a development side? It is not even close to our strongest team.

If for example you chose the following team from the above for a T20 side-
Welchx2, Williams, BT, Raza, Higgins, Naqvi, Burl, Bennett, Campbell, Evans
you could put them up against the best other players and this team would win 20-0. The batting is just way too strong, even though they're missing a couple of quicks

Even if you took out Bennett, Raza and Burl, who are in that T20 squad, it would still be tight.

This is the very problem they're facing and what they're going to resist by all means. They're going to need some T20 wins with that B squad they've selected or people will keep asking the questions.

The missing T20 batters are Timycen, Tony, Maru, Wes, Musekiwa, Clive, Dion, TK . There's a couple of like for like but not one is obviously better than those in the other team.
I'd try find space for Maru, despite his repeated failures I just love the dude.

My point being we may win a couple of T20's here and there but we are never ever going to see our strongest team on the park, which probably wouldn't win anyway, we've been left way behind most teams. Maybe they should try that? Pick our best side, we get beaten and then they can say- see they're just as shit, leave us alone.

:my best test squad
Ben Curran
Kaitano
Nick Welch
Sean W
Craig E
Bennet
Nyasha M wk
Vincent ( spin)
Newman
Ngarava
Blessing

No room for Gwandi and Campbell..
Campbell is ineffective as a bowler
Newman gives us more as a batter than Gwandu maling him a better all roundered player..
Gumbie has been out of form for a while ..

Welch dropped in form right when it matters. Sucks for him

Should be targeting these series. Afghan are miles ahead and Ireland are our peer side probably. Need to make a statement!

I think it will come down to him and Kataino.

And we all know the latter will be selected. I like his technique but Welch (both actually) have natural scoring ability and that self belief. I always feel that Kaitano lacks the confidence to express himself
