We won't have seen the last of Grant Flower.
I've heard rumblings he isn't overly happy where he is.
He'd be a fantastic choice for head coach.
He's Zimbabwean, a local legend, has the coaching experience. It's just weather he trusts ZC right now and if ZC would like in his direction.

I still think Gary Brent is the most obvious candidate though. Man, this guy just can't seem to get a break
yeah sri lankan guys seem off abt him

I'm not sure, but I sense there is some bad blood between ZC and Brent still? Is he considered too close to Campbell? Not really sure.

There isn’t a lot of countries that are words to live in than Zim right now, but I asssume Pakistan is definitely one of them.
They should chase him hard.
This is how you headhunt. Sniff opportunities when discontent is happening.
He's still with Sri Lanka, isn't he? ZC is probably more stable than SLC at the moment tbf. They are in a right mess. He's just had Covid too. Probably not enjoying himself there.

If they go with Grant as head coach I'd like to see a really top excellent bowling coach to assist him. I don't think Grant has ever been a head coach, has he? Would need help with bowling from someone really good.
Whoever th coach is should choose his assitsants, thats how its usually done isnt ?

i wonder what james franklin is up too? he went from an international pace bowler batting at 11 to a top line #3 batsman, so he would know a thing or two.
mickey arthur any good? him and grant probably gonna leave sl

As far as I know Mickey Arthur is knowledgeable, but not a greet man manager.
He would ask the Australian team to do written homework assignments and suspend them when it wasn’t done and the players flicked him for treating them like kids.
He might work in Zim since a lot of players seem subservient.

New coach new thinking can improve the games.

Work needs to be done in basics

a) Game Awareness, setting up proper approach with each formats.
b) Making brave selection on horses for courses
c) Providing atleast 30 T20Is, ODIS & 5-6 tests to the youths before dropping them, since all seniors to represent Zim is least expected now as one of them gets out because of injury
d)Merit & performances on regular basis should be the ultimatum
e) Proven failures, tried & tested ones should'nt be selected in the team with one or two performances

Last 10 years spin, reverse swing, slower variations became the prime weapon for opponents to win games in Zimbabwe
The way Zimbabwe set up is, will definately go with subcontinent coaches, as the pitches here r quite similar like subcontinent where there is something for pacers early and later spinners dominates, to get results at home such type of mindset is required.

NewsDaySport understands that his assistants Stewart Matsikenyeri (batting coach) and Douglas Hondo (bowling) have attracted scrutiny from ZC and have their jobs on the line.

Worth remembering that the coaches aren't allowed to speak to the media without ZC permission and preview. So would ZC really have let Rajput put out that defensive interview if they had any intention of replacing him in a couple of weeks? Seems almost certain that they want him to stay based on that interview.

He hasn't upset a single person in ZC in three years. He's a yes man. He's boring. He's exactly what ZC love. He hasn't pissed off a single board member or player in an entire three years. When was the last time a Zimbabwe head coach managed that? Never?

I think he's shit though. That record of 30 ODI's and only 4 victories (ALL against the UAE) is appalling.

It's interesting that ZC and Hammy are willing to throw their best mates - Matsi & Hondo - under the bus rather than Rajput. It's all a bit strange.

I think you know the answer to that.
If not look at my other messages on the topic.
