Level 3, plus a decent cricket career himself, plus some kind of sports admin experience you'd think would be the bare minimum. This is where we go wrong every time.
You need a level 4 head coach, a level 2 or 3 assistant, a physio/doctor, an analyst and possibly a manager. You could possibly get away without a convenor.
I'd be interested to see what the other teams have and their credentials.
You cant excuse less than that. If on top of that you have any board member or hot shot arriving first class to the opening or closing ceremony or if the team miraculously makes it to the knockouts it just makes a mockery of the whole budget tour, doesn't it.

The Asian school teacher guy is there as the 'manager' despite being employed as the senior team manager and presumably never even meeting these U19's before last week. Clearly a month on the beach in the Caribbean is preferable to a week in a strict bubble in Sri Lanka with the seniors   I don't blame him, I'd do the same.

I'm sure Mukuhlani will turn up in some capacity, seeing as he's flavour of the month at the ICC for some reason.

So USA have pulled out of the tri series so it's essentially a 4 match warm up series against Ireland.

We have another game against Ireland tomorrow so maybe it made sense to rest the seamers. Makes a bit more sense now

The manager used to be, or still is, the Headmaster at a private school built by the Indian community.
David Mutindira was, or still is, the national convenor. He's a coach at St John's. He used to coach/manage quite a few age group tours but seems to be having less involvement these days.

So he's the manager of the senior side and the u19 side simultaneously? How is that even possible?

Yep, thats the guy - Chouhan. He's definitely on the books as the Senior team manager but like we say, obviously a month freeloading in the Caribbean is preferable to a quick senior tour to SL

Side note, We must be the only country in the world that has dedicated Indian and Muslim schools that don't play any serious level of cricket or produce any cricketers. Bizarre.

Yeah Mutendera is still the senior convenor as far as I know, with Shepherd, Ewing and Utseya the other selectors. There was rumours of Hammy replacing the panel after the Scotland tour but I haven't heard anything since.

I still want to know what exactly Elton and Jarvis' ZC-paid roles involve. So Elton is coaching this U19 lot and Jarvis was a selector. But what are they gonna do after this tournament for the next two years? They are on full salaries. What the hell is a 'scout' anyway, in a country with only a couple of hundred people plying cricket? And we still don't really know what Houghton's role entails, other than coaching Mountaineers.

What does Maskadza even do nowadays? It's weird we haven't seen any quotes from him at all in the run up to the U19WC. He's director of cricket! If the boys pull off a shock win over Pakistan or the Afghans I bet he'll resurface though :D

Googly you write some random stuff! There’s a podcast in Australia called ‘You cannot be serious’, right up your alley I reckon!

On to the cricket, it amazes me that there’s more info on this forum about the state of affairs than there is anywhere else on the internet!

Tadiwanashe Mwale was on the field as a sub fielder yesterday. He was a 'non-travelling reserve' so must have flown in from the UK. Suggests we may have some injuries/Covid cases in the squad? Could explain why none of the seamers played.
