Thank goodness Chakabva is out also, he was only going to use up valuable deliveries.

Nope Matsi is not rubbish, and there's no case of anyone talking him up! Both Waller&Forster have been poor initially, what's worse is they were palying in the middle-loewer order!
What you guys refuse to see is that Taylor has sent Matsi 'on debut' plus Regis ahead of him! Coward!
I did say Matsi stood a better chance IF he played in the middle order - not open. Why, upon returning to international cricket, even Vusi didn't go to the WC and open straight up!
I question Taylor & the trio of coaches. Why let Waller & Craig come in the middle order, but force Matsi, Forster & Regis to bat up the order! I guarantee you that when Ewing gets his chance he won't be made to bat in the top four! Yet he either opens or comes in at first drop, but Matsi has been batting at six LFC&ListA for the past 3 years! Something is not right, look closely!
In Vusi(&Duffin's) absence, Hami & Taylor should've opened. Period!
I blame Taylor & the coaches for this. They;re trying to protect a man who should take the lead. Let him prove that he is genuinely better than the rest by standing up to the new ball, instead of failing at it like he always has, while the rest who do are considered to be inferior!
Like it or not, Duffin is needed! Even if he'll strike at just 60-70!

Disastrous start again
Hamilton and Chakabva, even if they had used up deliveries upto over no. 10 or so, and had settled in, they would have provided us a chance to build on that platform when the new ball got older.
Let us see if we can salvage some pride now...

What about not weakening a strength to strengthen a weakness?
Re: [Match Thread] New Zealand v Zimbabwe: 1st ODI
With all of Matsi's experience he should be able to manage something wherever he bats. Taylor has had some success as an opener, Matsi has never had any success at any spot in the side.

Thats just ridiculous. If anything, Waller has been the most consistant since that match before 99*. Remember, the test match vs NZ happened after the ODIS, where he had a dream debut, and he was amongst runs even in NZ warm up and in the fist innings, he was the top scorer in that abysmal score card. What on earth are you referring to hhm?zimfan1 wrote:hhm do you look to casue controversy?sloandog wrote:Scored a solid 50 against Pakistam, scored some useful lower order 40's and he scored 72 on his test debut, and he scored runs in the practice game. What planet you on ?hhm wrote:Waller - who (aprat from the 99'*) hasn't been at the top of his game for a long time now!
