I've been teaching all day but I'll be sure to watch the highlights later. A mate watsapped me and said Jansen is a scary talent

Of course. Kallis is perhaps the most surprising example. Just proves his consistency even more.
But yes...even single hundreds aren't easy to get. Plenty of very good batsmen get out in the 80s and 90s. Even Kohli has gotten out in the 80s and 90s, sixteen times in his career (excluding not outs).

Like their Rugby Union counterparts, I think Australia might be heading home from the Cricket World Cup after the group stage. They look a long way off the pace.

All teams have only played 2 out of 9 games...everyone has 7 games and so plenty of time to turn things around. Its hard to keep good or bad form going for so long.
That being said, Austrlaia look terrible relative to where we're used to seeing them.

Re: 2023 ODI World Cup Discussion
So far after 10 games, only 1 has been somewhat close (PAK vs SL). The other 9 games have been won/lost by big margins.
However, I still think the tournament has been reasonably exciting from a results standpoint precisely because SA and NZ have done so well and Australia have been so poor. Its always good to see one or more of the Big 3 flounder, because it indicates that there is more parity and competition amongst the sides.

Can we all just appreciate how chronic the world cup 'theme' is. Awful awful choice

Haven't heard it but thats such a non-issue IMO compared to the many other egregious signs of incompetence. For example not releasing the schedule so fans could make plans until the eve of the tournament, not approving the Pakistan teams visas until the 11th hour, having a subpar outfield in Dharamsala, the general maintainence and upkeep of the stands in the stadiums (I've seen some pictures and even by subcontinent standards they are filthy).

Shows you how much the game has fallen and let's be honest it's mainly upon bcci. Just over a decade back we saw a wonderful wc here in India only. Just look at the glaring incompetence and fall from grace here. Shocking tournament. I'll be honest with you, I haven't even seen a single game of this dreaded circus.
