Not gonna complain because we've not lost many yet. Kasuza needs to rotate strike more, from what I'm seeing on Cricbuzz. I don't have a stream rn so if someone can tell me if we're in safe hands till the end of the day?

Welcome Brendan Taylor. Probably the longest he's ever had to wait to come out to bat

I disagree Free Spirit, I think these guys are approaching this innings perfectly. The longer they stay out there, the run rate will improve naturally.
But as it stands right now, SL will be getting pretty frustrated at how things are going - so just keep grinding them down. If the opportunity comes up to play an aggressive shot every now and then, by all means take it as they have done. I hope they just keep doing what they are doing.
i think dirk summed it up well when he said it’s all good playing solid and being cautious 41 from 153 isn’t the worst in the world but once you get into a mindset of defend first and we’ll catch up later it can produce false shots (Prince case it point), modern day Test cricket 180 or 190 in a day is way under par
Yes but tests are not going five days. Which tells us that 180 after day 1 is fine.
we need to take full advantage of the conditions, 180/2 can easily turn into 220/6 if the new ball is taken or if it rains tomorrow, the openers did well but didnt take full advantage of the conditions, we need to snap out of this complex of being comfortable with being in average and below average situations. ervine and taylor fully know that and we can see the difference . kasuza was good on debut wont fault his 29 strike rate, Masvaure(36) though on a flat pitch ist that good

You guys are being overly critical
That was a great day for us. One of our two big guns is going to get a big one tomorrow and all will be good.

I hear you, but isn't that a complex as well: sensing an imminent collaps around the corner and blaming the top order for it? Our best batters bat from 3 to 6. Let's put some faith in them and not take anything away from the fact that our openers for once have given them a solid foundation.

The two batsman out followed the same formula I’ve been warning about.

Get the 50 (‘Zimbabwean hundred’)
Get bogged down by bowler
Out!
This is why you need to keep the score ticking.

Commentator at the end brought up a good point. Some criticism that Zimbabwe didn’t take advantage of batting conditions today and probably robbed themselves a bit that may come back to bite when the wicket sours.

That said, all in all a great day.

Amazing day, well done boys.

Kazuza and Prince really have done a fantastic job there.

Time for Taylor and co to really take full advantage tomorrow. The wicket is so flat, which is slightly worrying that we scored this slowly.

I didn't mind that batting at all

If someone said that after a 2 year test hiatus you would be 189-2 I would take that
Also have taken time out of the game which means that we will likely go to a 4th day at very least
