It's not really a preoccupation with red ball, we actually play the bare minimum of red ball, it's the complete paucity of the other formats, and T20 in particular.
Pros play 30 plus games in a season and then another 20-30 elsewhere in the off season.
Our players who don't have the luxury of playing elsewhere in the off season need to be exposed to a minimum of 40 games a year, if not more. Back to back T20's would take care of some of that.

Granted, but Afghanistan are making these games looks so easy. Our guys are going at a RR of 4 an over, Afghanistan come in and are whipping away at runs easily.Googly wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 8:05 amIt's not really a preoccupation with red ball, we actually play the bare minimum of red ball, it's the complete paucity of the other formats, and T20 in particular.

Hammy and ZC are fully responsible for organising all those extra games. It an easily be done, but they do the bare minimum 5 round seasons and everyone sings their praises.

Well this season is better. How low have we sunk to suggest people are doing well because they're now organising the minimum amount of games required?
And it needs to be tidied up. Needs a program planned a season in advance and times and games adhered to.
Plus start the season earlier, have a break over Xmas and January where the rains affect games almost daily

In fact that should be T20 time, played in the mornings before the afternoon rains.

Huh? The current domestic season is still ongoing and has been since October. Pretty much the most extensive domestic season I can remember.
It’s a bit of a mess and still needs plenty of work but at least the games have been played.

They really do need to tip the balance more towards white ball though, especially in a year like this when we have no Tests at all.

May be he could reinvent his U19 keeping skills as well, along the way...secretzimbo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 12:01 pmKasuza not playing for his club today. Maybe they have called him up! We are quite desperate![]()

One thing I always believed in is that things are never as bad as they appear to be and are never as good as they appear to be.
Zimbabwe need to relax and approach the rest of the games with positivity, look WSL direct qualification was never really a possibility and we all know that, so it is more about focussing on T20 WCQ as of now and making the most of probably the best period of fixtures we've had in ages.
I know so far every series has ended in a defeat, except the drawn T20 series against Nepal, but so be it. You don't lose when you get knocked down, you lose when you don't get up again... And given the state Zimbabwe cricket is in atm, the only way is up... Go boys, there ain't a damn thing to lose.

The problem is that the people who need to hear this positivity, don't actually care.sam_ahm wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 4:23 pmOne thing I always believed in is that things are never as bad as they appear to be and are never as good as they appear to be.
