Chats is a good bowler. Swing is hard to buy. He bowled a bouncer there that was annoying, must just bowl line and length. Bowled too straight, should have kept his 4th stump line.
Ngarava and Muza's stock ball must be a heavy length top of off or middle, take advantage of their height
Those Indian seamers gave us a lesson in world class bowling. Uber tough to face.

Ngarava, Muzarabani, Chatara, Evans, Jongwe, Nyauchi, Chivanga plus the likes of Mumba in reserve and actually a number of relatively good young seamers in the domestic competition over the past 12 months who have impressed me. Pace bowling is the least of our problems. Batting is an issue because most of our batters at all levels in our system are orthodox players who prefer time to settle and build an innings. T20 is a alien concept to a lot of our guys, and it's not their fault. The system over many many years at all levels has been focused on longer form cricket.
As for 'we are fucked' - well, everyone has been saying that for a good twenty years now, and here we are still in Super 12s of a world cup. We beat Pakistan last week and Australia last month.

There's no way Roche and Dollar are better than Mandande.
Theyve gone anyway, and if you miss two seasons you have to have some serious ability to get back.
Same with Murray and now potentially Myers. If you're good you will always do ok here but then you get on the big stage and those years of not developing and learning your game are going to bite you.
If we played India again tomorrow we'd do better. We just get over-awed. Choking is not the right word. We don't actually believe who we are playing and stop thinking. They're only human, you get the basics right and believe you belong and you're more than half way there.

That bowling change to seam really messed us up. We probably would nit have gotten close anyway, but it still would have looked good for our bowling unit to restrict them to 150. I'm flogging this, but that was such a poor call.

Well of course, the others I doubt if they are still even cricketers now. I know Roche is trying to qualify for New Zealand and is captain of some premier club team. Point is watching him not get a game whilst Shumba the wk Regis stink it up all tournament and our option was Munyonga means nothing much has changed in their order and their abilities. The issue has always been selecting the average players from the batch, from the last batch you will see Makoni in FC cricket and wonder why we always leave the better players. Then we have to select the decent from a bunch of the average players. We will always fall short. Raza really masked a lot. Yes our bowling could have done better but without that short cameo from Burl and Raza we wouldn’t have even made 100 and I doubt there is any batsman you would have backed to do better than they did out there

Yup, pretty much the entire squad is more comfortable in ODIs as compared to T20s, including Raza. That's because none of them are power hitters and dont have enough experience of playing in T20 leagues. Even the bowlers are not very good T20 bowlers, they are also more comfortable in longer formats. I think the same can be said about teams like Bangladesh and Pakistan, they are better ODI teams.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 10:20 amAt the very least, Ervine, Williams and Chakabva are all more comfortable in 50 over cricket so at least thats something. Actually probably our entire batting squad.sam_ahm wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 10:07 amIt's not that bad Googly. Agreed Zimbabwe have been below par in the last 3 games but don't forget Netherlands struggled big time against Pakistan and India too and then bouncee back. So it happens.
I care less about the T20 format for the next 1 year anyways
So after this game, I'll be more interested to see how the ODI team goes.
Of course it doesn't mean the fortunes change significantly in ODIs but they stand a better chance of doing well, but in any case we need some decent batsman, Regis looks done, and there is no alternative atm.
Need 2-3 really good batters to come through. desperately.

Marumani is keeping wicket lots now. I woudnt say would trust him for a test match but certainly limited overs would be good.
Now we have some 20 20 against afghanistan in december if im not mistaken. Time to give him a chance.
And campbell looks pretty solid. He may get the nod for a debut

I wasn't far off.
I don't think anyone expected us to win this game. Neither did any Zim fans. What makes this loss frustrating is much the same reason as the last two games. There was absolutely no grit or fight from the lads in any way whatsoever. We basically gave up before we stepped on the field.
All that excitement we built around us was lost in these three games. Even the associates will be thinking they deserve more than us. They showed much more than us and even games they lost, they actually worked hard and fought for it.
