Exactly. It's just the big 'if' and 'will they'..
If they come back after their education..
If ZC still exists..
If they keep developing
Will they be given a chance at Franchise Level..
Will they commit to ZC if given the opportunity..
This season it's been refreshing to see guys like Bell and Diplock play. I mean it's been sporadic, but still, they've been recognized. I know Dipaz would love to play for Zim but it's the process of getting there he says; it's a shame.
Not sure why he's not been given a chance for the Eagles with the ball.
Far too many passengers in the FC system
Ian Bishop singled out Matigimu as one of three quicks that had caught his eye. I've always said that. If he had a decent action and a bit more control he'd have been 145 this tournament. i thought the spinners were good but not stand out, they've bowled good line and length and have been very consistent, but none of them give it a rip, have real turn and bounce or a mystery ball. I'm not knocking them, they have done us really proud, but they're not stand out. I rate that English leggie, he's real good.
Our batters have done well. Despite the ending I really enjoyed the West Indian game. The 15 year old batted out of his socks. Snyder has ended doing well up the order, but as I've said he's a 6 or a 7 in a quality side. Again not knocking him, it's just where he would be most destructive.
Jeremy Ives has really come of age with the bat, he could do with putting on some muscle, but has constructed his innings' very well. Murray has had a mediocre time of it, but has gone out to a couple of peachy deliveries so was a bit unlucky, as was Sly. Murray is the most talented bat in the side and is a superb keeper. For my money the best keeper in the tournament. There are some amazing batters in this tournament, sublime, jaw dropping talents. That guy Pope you have to get out because you're not going to keep him quiet, very destructive, as is Lawrence. The Indians are excellent as well.
I initially said that this was the weakest u19 side we've ever fielded, I guess I was more than wrong, sorry boys. They are not that strong though, but have played pretty well as a team, and after all it is a team game.
Been really impressed with Ives in particular. Looks nice and compact, and composed at the crease. Encouraging that there some decent players coming through. (if they stick around).I've enjoyed the games that have been shown on TV, and great to see Nepal and Namibia make it through to the quarter finals.
It makes me even more angry that the smaller nations are getting so few oppurtunities....we are the only sport that seems to globally contracting..ICC needs to wake up...
And why shouldn't we beat them? The guys just have to pull together. The ICC are about as useful as Fifa and completely toothless it appears. The only time we see these smaller teams is in the WC. It's a big problem being dictated to by the big teams. What happened to the u15 WC?
Poor day for England, they needed someone to consolidate in the middle order. They had become very reliant on Lawrence getting them off to a fast start. Again too much variation from Curran. I think the ball was doing a lot more in the first innings, the toss may have played a big factor. I'm sorry to seem them out of it, but Sri Lanka were worthy winners today.
Clearly WI don't deserve to win against Pakistan depending on how they cope withJoseph and Pope.
