you pick your best 6 batsman best gloveman ( not batsman ) and your best 4 bowlers ! thats the way test cricket has always worked and the best teams always did that , teams used to have players like kallis ect so you could play the allrounder who gives you equal balance , if you don't have a genuine allrounder then pick your best bat because it will backfire. ask Australia and even southafrica , they are always searching for the missing link but the key is if you don't have the allrounder you play your best bats and bowlers. it frustrates me how so many teams try to replicate the one layers where you can use bits and piece players to fill the gaps.im always for the better gloveman over a decent bat and average gloveman , if the top 6 can't 8times out of 10 do the job then you're simply not good enough

Very wise words here. It's a specialists game in the end I guess.. you can't have part timers in any of it.. that's the lesson I think we have to take from the last 7 or so tests.
