Well, its their money and what they want, ultimately. It's not like national team selections that one can cry foul over injustice towards talent. It's of course not all about nurturing the sport too. It's just another business for them.

Even in the earlier editions, IPL owners rarely did their own research on players. Whoever they hired as coaching staff made all the suggestions to the owners. Part of the reason why we saw some obscure names from the Aus and SA doemstic scene getting sold for eye catching money - the franchise coaches were from there. Now they don't have to depend on that either. Other leagues around the world already shows who is good and they blindly shell out money on them. The other way to get noticed is to do well against India - like Ajantha Mendis in the past, Mustafizur Rahman and Akila Dhananjaya more recently.

Even earlier, Taibu was the only Zimbabwean guy who got IPL nod with his pedigree. Price was also helped by the fact that Pollock was in the Mumbai setup and knew his credentials well, and Taylor got in because Moody knew him through SLPL (but was later never invited). Indeed a genuine IPL frachise would look at Cremer or Raza with a serious interest. Or a Hamilton would ideally be a steal for CPL. But then I guess half the CPL teams are also owned by Indian franchises by the looks of it.

But domestic performances don't go unnoticed sometimes for the Indian guys. Karnataka off-spinner K Gowtham, for example, showed that he is tailor made for this format and owners were ready to shell out the money.

Even with my inherent hatred for IPL, I might go watch one of RCB's home matches finally if they are certain to play Colin de Grandhomme. That guy in full flow is something else.

Doubt any of them will get picked. Maybe by some miracle Raza..

I feel sorry for Hami because I think he would do ok. Wasn't he even in the top 10 in that format at some point? It's all because we don't play enough games
Hami, Raza & Cremer should be picked , if they are drafting people from Nepal
