I remember how England chose a squad of T20 specialists for the first T20 World Cup. They were thoroughly miserable and since then it has been shown that the best players are the best players in all formats. How many T20 specialists can you name that excell internationally only in T20? Ryan Butterworth may look good domestically, but to say he will perform better than Brendan Taylor is crazy. I have no problem with Butterworth getting a shot but I think Taylor should be the first name on any team sheet for Zimbabwe regardless of the format.

Aha my bad! In place of his reserve I'd have Matskinyeri...give him a go

Good call.

You don't know much about cricket, do you.

Matsi is a legend.

He was a legend when he was 12. Unfortunately he never really progressed.

To be fair to him I think the phenomenal raw talent he had was never properly harnessed by the coaching staff.

It is really a case of talent squandered.

He definately had the potential to be one of the top 20 batsmen in the world. being out of test cricket in his price also did not help.

But his record is still good and his experience should be harnessed by the current set up.

Maybe he could be captain of the Zimbabwe A side.

I dont think matsi ever had crazy good talent like the cricket show had you believe,

He was probably as good as chibhabha or raza probably less than Taylor etc.

To be honest I think they just made a big deal about him because he was poorish (heart strings) had a
bit of talent
and was black and back in those days that was a very 'wow' thing.

I'll never know for sure but I suspect the current nationals were better.

By the way I'm one of those rare people that saw the cricket show the day it aired with that story and remember it well and had the impression then as well seeing it in context.

Matsi was never in BRMT's league. I agree.

As good as Chibhabha, yeah I see that. Chibhabha is another one of unrealise potential.
