The Chivanga observations are interesting. As much as you need a fast bowler to have an attitude, international pressure can humble you really quickly. He might be the fastest in Zimbabwe but he does that against Pakistan for example and the retaliation he will get when he bats will be brutal . He might crack on the big or that will humble him. I doubt he has faced many people as fast as him. Whatever happened to the "A" tour against Pakistan? We need it

Is Chivanga any quicker than Blessing or Ngarava?

Yes he is quicker. From the speeds I saw in Sri Lanka. I would say Blessing can do 135kph regularly. Ngarava can do about 137kph regularly. I heard they clocked Chivanga bowling just above 140kph a few times. I got a feeling he will play against Ireland but I doubt there will be a speed gun since its a meaningless series anyway.

Hmm I’m not sure. When he arrived everyone was saying he was ‘very regularly’ 145+ in SA but I’m not convinced at all - I think it's a bit of a myth. It’s hard to tell from a grainy stream though.

I think Blignaut.

I remember something from 15 or so years ago that Mark Vermeulen stated one if our guys could bowl in the 150s, does anyone remember that?

It might have been Gerald Aliseni, who is also runoured to have been 150, but sprayed it everywhere.

Takw that with a huge grain of salt though because ive lost count of how many times ive heard about '140 k bowlers' in the system that end up being 128k bowlers when measured.

100 up for Marumani! Off 320 balls too, massive! Important innings in the context of his career. Very happy for him. Shame he went off camera for his celebration!

Yeah Blessing is a 135 bowler who can occaisionally touch the low 140s. I haven't seen Ngarava touch 140 yet, but he does seem to be at least as fast as BM on average pace. Ngarava 137 sounds spot on. Genuine fast medium both of them. That is plenty of pace on a bouncy or seaming wicket or if you can swing the cherry around.

it appears being dropped for the natl team did Marumani a lot of good. now we are seeing a side of him we didn't know existed. If he can curb his attacking instincts and reserve them for bal balls/bowlers, he can be a handful for any team he faces. A left-handed opening batsman who is a genuine, specialist opening batsman is a blessing for any team. His contemporary, Madhevere is also begging for this treatment, dropping Wessly could also help him focus, find that hunger and come back with a vengeance.
