Oh, come on!! That last sentence was a deliberate ploy to make Alex Obanda's name more prominet than the rest and by implication the most hopeless of all buys by the Fanchises.

Have you bothered to look through his stats? The man averages 32 in ODIs and has a strike rate of 94 in limited (high score 79: how many can claim to have scored 80 yet?) T20 internationla which will no doubt increase. Moreever he's a fast bowler and in essence an all rounder. He's played in an African XI, which puts him on par whith the Eltons and Vusis. If I'm not mistaken he's more potential than the former.

Greater than all the other reasons, he's African, and these are precisely the kind of players who need the exposure just as much as Zim needed South Africa back in the days.

Of all unjustified critiscisms of players yet, this one stinks!!
For what it's worth, I agree with you, I'm glad to see Kenyans back involved in Zim domestic cricket. I even know Alex, as I opened the batting with him in Nairobi club cricket a few years ago, he's a decent lad and a good player. However, his ODI/T20I figures are massively helped by the standard of the opposition that Kenya often face. No one can argue that he looked anything other than an imposter at number 3 against Keegan Meth the other day. (and he is definitely not a bowler)

I hope he comes good, as he can hit a very long ball. But his prescence is of much more benefit to him than the standard of the tourney, and Tom Smith is by a long stretch the more accomplished cricketer of the 2.

Now if I argued the hhmway Rainsford would be trash and this unfortunate spell would forever define his pedigree....fortunately I understand cricket differently...
1. Mawoyo 2. Duffin 3. Sibanda 4. Taylor 5. Masakadza 6. Williams 7. Chakabva 8. Creamer 9. Jarvis 10. Rainsford 11. Mpofu

If Gayle hangs around, this could be an enormous total

Great effort by Mugava & Muzhange. Signs that our FC setup is producing enough quality - so to those who talk of reducing the teams, I say one more franchise! The two really impressed me, with Muzhange highlighting why he probably got the nod ahead of Chinouya.

Cremer's forgettable experience was largely a result of poor and unimaginative bowling by a leg spinner to the most destructive left-handed batsman in the world!

Rainsford demonstrated why I value him so much as a bowler. Character and experience showed. His after bowling his first 5 balls in his first over for just 3 runs, he needed to do the same but a wide full toss was guided to boundary to spoil an otherwise fantastic start. Gayle duly laid into him for his second over after taking a good look in the first. The way he came back in his last two overs was very impressive as they found him difficult to get away. Was responsible for initiating the restriction on the Tuskers onslaught, and Tait&Muzhange carried on admirably under the circumstances.

Coventry should really come before on of Smith or Horton. Horton really struggle and was very much the difference between 170 and the Tuskers getting a deserved 220. Would like to see Smith dropped for Ewing, while Coventry slots in at 3.

For the second time I've seen Mupariwa in the blue, so it might the case that he's been a Tusker all along. Question is why hasn't he played. Considering that the Tuskers have Mpofu, Meth, Ncube, Querl & Staddon siff competition could be the reason. But surely Tuskers have been short of national players, and I doubt Staddon can be rated higher than Mupariwa, which means oportunities were there, so itmust be injury!

Rhinos did well to keep them to 170 with that Gayle onslaught

I can only guess that is tongue in cheek seeing both bowlers went wicketless at more than 10 an over.
