I think that its important to note that all the hype about playing on a "green top" increased the expectations of our bowlers, when in fact Napier has allways been a very high scoring ground with batsman historicly making big runs.betterdays wrote:Man alive, I must reiterate that i wish, with all my heart for these guys to do well - but are you really thanking him for talking about avoiding a follow on before we even bat? and would we have done well to take essentially 4 wickets if we lose by 10 in what would amount to 4 days or for them to take 20 of ours if we only get 8/9 of their wickets?FlowerPower wrote:Thank you....zimfan1 wrote:Just remember guys if we can get a draw out of this game we would of done well, with three days to go and with 20 wickets in hand we have a real chance, NZ will bat at least a session tommorow and then its all about avoiding the follow on.
as i said, i feel i was realistic before the start and i am disappointed (not angry at anyone, just disappointed!) so far!
For me Jarvis is a real find, he has improved in every Test Match he has played so far particulary with his consistent line and length, i admit that his ODI form still needs improving but the lad is only 22 and has only really played one international season. vitori was dissapointing but he had his real sucess bowling to left handers from Bangladesh not good test match right handed batsman from New Zealand.
The thing that is encouaging is that if 2 of these three arnt up to the mark then we have a crop of young bowlers to come in which we have not had before, Meth, Chitara, Quel, Waller and the young quick from the Eagles have all had good seasons.
Lets just wait to see what the New Zealand Bowlers do before we give out the damming verdicts
