Ya I think we heard a while ago there was some sort of development thing lined up for England next year. Interesting they’ve gone with U25.
I wonder who the opposition will be?
As you say it’s all about selection but unfortunately it will probably be poor unless there’s significant change in the next few months. No doubt both the Naqvi boys will be in along with both the Makoni’s and most probably Roy Kaia and Faraz Akram.
But more to the point of the topic...there is no substitute for international cricket. Going back to domestic cricket works for teams like Australia, England, India, South Africa, and New Zealand...but the quality of domestic cricket in other countries means that most of the development has to happen at the international level. Its a painstaking process, and is probably low yield (ie if you have 5 talented prospects, perhaps only 1-2 of them will actually turn out to be decent to good players).
I thnk playing as many internationals as possible in all formats is the way to go for Zimbabwe. Especially games against teams like Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, and Namibia. Perhaps even arranging games vs UAE, Nepal, and USA will do well especially if you're trying out younger players.
Yes this is important. Got to start at the bottom again (Nepal, USA etc) and work from there. Same thing happened during the Heath Streak era i think we got Canada in etc
Unfortunately the Sri Lanka tour is going to be a bloodbath. We're not getting close to competitive with them even with their problems.
ZIM have been competitive with SL the past several years dating back to 2017. That being said, I think Sri Lanka are at the strongest they've been in the past 7-8 years (since Sanga and Jaya retired)...so might be a very tough tour for Zimbabwe.

The u25 thing carries about as much water as an Afghan u19. We just need what's essentially an A side or Emerging side.
A or emerging is a better plan than under 25. Gives some credibility to the fact at least 25% of the side will be older than 25. Couple of older fringe players I’ve no problem with. It’s when Hamilton and Roy rock up that it becomes a glorified jolly boys outing.
