Raza' team got knocked out of the IPL yesterday. Once he returns he should easily be in line to play the last three ODIs against shaheens .but is the management going to play him or ask him to rest ? In my opinion he should play as this is the last series before qualifiers and anyway he was warming bench in IPL for last few games

Always good to get wins. Even if this is an A team…Pakistan are fairly strong in ODIs.

I really wouldn't mind seeing gumbie get a game or two as an opener.

Chopping and changing the line up is hit or miss. What if Gumbie makes more than 20 (guaranteeing him a spot as opener) and then he does nothing else?

I don't know the answer, if there even is one.

Nyauchi can't bat, which surely means Evans is the better option, so surely stick with him and give him opportunity to bat in these warm ups.
One would like to think he can't keep playing stupid shots forever, but its clear that he's good for a few runs if he keeps his head. I'm getting a bit disheartened punting him all the time.

I'd think they have to give Myers a shot next game, out of desperation more than anything.
Williams and Ervine need to sort their shit out, they look terrible.

Whether we qualify or not (not looking good), they need to ensure Bennett, Welch Jr and Myers play franchise next season. All three seem to have more potential than most of the fringe guys. We're headed for dark times when the Big 3 go.
If it were me I'd be having conversations with Byrom, Welch and Muyeye as well. This is an old conversation, kicked mostly to death, but we're in deep shit. They may not have done much to date but they're a level above the local lads, they're also a level above Ben Curran, not knocking the guy at all, he's a decent pro, but he's not as good as the other 3.

If ZC take their foot off the pedal after these qualifiers we will have no batsmen to choose from, it's going to be dire.

One thing that will help is this winning habit. Zimbabwe have been on a roll and that could play a big part in the qualifiers.

I mean it is a combined 500+ ODI caps vs a combined 4 ODI caps.

But it's good practice for WCQ, will give the boys some confidence.

The one really positive thing is that despite top order collapses both games, the middle/lower order have done well and the bowlers have come out and bowled extremely well too. The spirit and attitude this team has under Dave is fantastic. It will serve us very well under the high pressure of the qualifiers

Highly likely

Evans problem is that he hasn’t been bowling well recently either. I’d say if he doesn’t put a good performance in in his next appearance he’s at real risk of not even making the squad.

I believe Myers had a niggle, but ya I’m sure he’ll play when he’s fit

This is true. The fact that we are winning without Williams and Ervine not contributing much is a big positive.

I like Evans but I'm thinking he needs to improve his bowling a lot. If they play with 8 batsmen with Ngarava at 9 that might be a better trade off than Evans at 9. The way these warmups are going tells me Ngarava, Blessing and Chatara might be the preferred tail next month. That's if they play 8 batsmen. The problem with 8 batsmen now is that you might see Burl batting at 8 which is a waste
