I agree. The innings in Bangladesh where he scored runs while the other batsmen were dropping like flies shows that the guy has talent, and what appears to be a good mix between aggression and defense.

On current form however, Waller is struggling. And Chakabva deserves a chance to get some game time on subcontinental wickets - this series is more about development (well it will be now anyway!) than anything else, so some time in the middle would be good for him.

I agree...There is no question over his talent.He proved that in an ODI against Bangladesh where the other batsmen collapsed.

But sadly his record doesnt speak much about him.It surely can be improved in the future.

Zimbabwean side has lost the first match and they have to fight hard and also depends on equation if Zim manage a place in the final and moreover it's not the strongest Zimbabwean national taking part in the Deodhar trophy.So in my opinion,every player should be given equal chance.Waller is out of form for a while,so why not to give a run to Chakabva to see what he can do.Chances will come for Waller in the club cricket or domestic competition like in the Logan Cup.If he scores run,he will retain his place in the side that's for sure.

Unfortunately no miracles were forthcoming as WZ got home by 6 wickets with 12 overs remaining, a wicket each for Price and Utseya but nobody able to pop up with a six wicket maiden.

Not enough runs again... No one managed a 50 in either game, never going to win matches like that. Bowling wasn't embarrased, but unsurprisingly, the Indians played spin much better than Kenya or Bangladesh.

think chibbaha needs to be praised with two good starts and he bowled very tightly taking wickets and not going for many a very good comeback for the national side

Nothing gained, nothing lost. Well, not entirely true I suppose - it would have been useful experience for Mutizwa and Chakabva (who both did alright too) to get a feel for Indian wickets. And as we couldn't see the games, it is hard to analyse anything.

Something I did notice which was promising though; Badrinath bowled by Masakadza for 12, Uthappa out on 1 off the bowling of Chigumbura, Patel out for 7 off Chigumbura, Jaffer out for 12 bowled Price.

They are the only Indian national team names that I noticed, and all of them failed to make a decent score. Patel out for 7 is not surprising, but it is good to see that the Zimbabweans had no trouble getting rid of the likes of Badrinath or Jaffer. Perhaps the Indian national players felt under more pressure to play well because they knew they were playing a full strength opposition national team, whereas the domestic players really had nothing to lose.

Anyway, not that it matters now but I got an email today from AIR confirming what we already knew:

Probably the only gain: Around 30 of the players were in action at the same time, so we can now assess the depth of the squad, which is not as much as it should be.

Loss: loss of form and confidence for a few players. But they should be regaining it quickly in the Logan cup.
