The most fantastic waste of money by any cricket board.

The 2027 WC is over October and November. I cannot begin to explain how hot Vic Falls is over those 2 months. The trick will be to make England play there, at least half the team will die and the other half will have to be airlifted to ICU. It is absolutely brutal.

I accept they will host internationals there because they will be obliged to, but the expense of getting domestic teams there and housing them will wear thin after about 4 games, it is 450km from Bulawayo on a broken road and 1000km from Harare by road. The flights to Vic Falls are prohibitively expensive. Per km flown the Hre-Falls flight was about the most expensive flight on the planet.
It's basically never going to be used, not for cricket anyway.

Next problem is who is going to watch cricket there?
Madame Boss is going to have to pull out every trick in the book with her cricket stick to get people to come voluntarily.
They're going to have to literally round up the locals with free transport, promises of money and free drink to get them there. Oh and free hats and umbrellas for the burning sun.

I doubt a resident of Vic Falls has ever watched a game of cricket in their lives, let alone tried to play.

The money being spent here used in the right places would have made a monumental difference to our cricket. This is an off-take, a holiday resort for the Board and a money spinner for whatever other plans they have, but rest assured it's not cricket related.

Literally 90% of Zim cricketers are Harare based and we are desperately short of facilities here in the capital.
Three quarters of the Harare clubs dont have a ground, no indoor faclities or grass nets to speak of.
They could have built 10 nice grounds here with that money, with a nice clubhouse, indoor and outdoor nets and gym facilities.

At 50k (and its a lot less than that) to put down a top of the range pitch, small clubhouse/pavillion and borehole that equates to fixing up or creating 200 school pitches so we dont have to rely on Wise Owl for our future. Assuming of course any of those schools want to play cricket. I think they know the answer. Borehole pump and covers liberated by day 2 by the headmaster.
It would put us level with Scotland and Ireland.

Bangladesh have now been replaced by Scotland at the T20 WC.

What do you guys think? India were allowed to play at a neutral venue for the Champions Trophy as Indian Govt did not give permission for the team to travel to Pakistan. Pakistan, on the same logic are now getting games at neutral venues when the host nation is India.

Exactly the same situation is mentioned now by the BCB. Their government is not allowing the team to travel to India but now the ICC says they have to, and have replaced them with Scotland.

I actually do think that these are double standards by the ICC. It's the same situation but different rules for different teams.

Pakistan, the only board which has supported BCB in this episode has now officially said that they might consider pulling out of the tournament as the ICC is showing double standards.

Zimbabwe haven't quite supported BCB in this.. obviously you don't go against the boss which is the BCCI, but if we look at it, both BCB and PCB have been kind to Zimbabwe as compared to other nations. Not sure if this would spoil some of that relationship in the future.

I hope Pakistan withdraw also - India keep playing silly buggers diplomatically. Other than Sri Lanka, the whole region shouldn't host ICC tournaments and perhaps losing out on the India v Pakistan cash cow will send a message to the BCCICC?
