Kaitano doesnt last an over against spin bowling. Remember the sri lanka series against the leg spinner and again in last match against india. He is hopeless.
Best bet is if he tries to hit his way out of trouble early doors against the seamers. A nice 30/40 is all you can expect from him. He wont last long against Zampa and Lyon
Zimbabwe squad to australia
Re: Zimbabwe squad to australia
Yes he is hopeless against spin. 1 of the errors I think we made on Monday was bring him out instead of Burl when there was still about another 10 overs of spin left. I think he should have come out again at 8 just to play the role Evans played. He could have done that against the pace. That and also playing Munyonga so high. Ideally after the injury, it should have been Burl at 6, Munyonga 7, Kaitano 8, Evans 9.Donald wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 3:13 pmKaitano doesnt last an over against spin bowling. I got a feeling if the ball isn't moving too much in Australia he could do ok opening. Its definitely his last chance. Wes too. That swing was just too much for most of our guys
Re: Zimbabwe squad to australia
I'm still wondering how they get that much swing up in the highveld.
I don't think it's Madhevere's last chance. Even if his shit form continues and they drop him he'll always get another shot. Plus until a couple of guys emerge from the pack, what choice is there?
I don't see how a guy emerges from the pack. Practically everyone has had a few chances and nobody has shown they've got that bit extra.
The Houghton interview was interesting. He accepted that Masvaure and ....(I've forgotten, but test style openers) were absolutely an option, but that it was too late to get them visas.
To find a few guys that can play like Williams, that can work the ball around with apparent ease, is not going to be easy.
I mean we need 7 guys like that to be competitive against a big side and we're about 4½ shy.

Is Ballance coming back for sure?if so when....
Re: Zimbabwe squad to australia
The rumours have abated. He's not playing in the RL comp in England, which is strange. Maybe they're waiting for the outcome of this final, behind closed doors, bullshit witch hunt before he's cleared to play.
My guess would be if he's going to get done in that they'd rather he announced that he was wrapping it up and coming back here.
I haven't been following what's going on and it may not actually be public information anyway. I'll have a look now.

Re: Zimbabwe squad to australia
The final hearing commences in October
Ballance played only one second team game as far as I can see, and hasn't played any cricket since.
Maybe he was told to stop pending the outcome of this last hearing?

Re: Zimbabwe squad to australia
Seeing the team being in Brisbane overnight and staying (probably in the city, which is not very far from me) has filled me with some serious FOMO
Don't have to play at the Gabba. Could have played at Allan Border Field or UQ even. Would not have cost a lot if anything to play there. The team also does not have to stay in a fancy hotel. AB field has excellent accommodation for teams who often stay there for camps and such.
There is always a solution but I suspect ZC would refuse to support the team in some way.
This is my thinking, though with a more competent board, they would have seen the value in staying longer than a week.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 9:15 amQuite possible that ZC just don’t want to spend any money though of course![]()

Re: Zimbabwe squad to australia
Yeah it would have been good to have at least one game played at a major metropolitan ground.
All 3 at Townsville is odd.
Why not have one at Cairns if they are using the logic of going to remote regions that doesn’t get a lot of cricket? Spread the love. Not far away.
Townsville will be an interesting experience for the boys.
Can’t swim there, but apparently a beautiful and exotic town. Rugby league mad too.
I’ve been told that all you need to do to get laid is say you’re a footy player.
The Panthers are playing the cowboys up there after the game. I strongly suggest the boys get along to that. There wouldn’t be much else on. Two quality top 4 teams.
