Zimbabwe Squad for Sri Lanka
Re: Zimbabwe Squad for Sri Lanka
He was in Byo. Clearly not sacked as was suggested, but I'd assume in a panic because the bosses are shouting.

I heard he was also being ‘reassigned’ to a new job

Systemic change is needed. At least he acknowledges it
I wonder if he’s aiming at the players that let themselves get fat or take drugs? Hence the professionalism comment at the end
He should clarify that if so
This isn’t how you talk about your employees though. Third world mentality on display right here
No doubt the players have to take some responsibility for poor performance and especially for the drug stuff. But also the system has created this. Everything goes back to the top.
They’ve had twenty years in charge and this is the mess we are still in.
He is to blame for these failures. This is how management works in the real world
He is admitting he can’t control his organisation
The more I think about it though the more I think he’s aiming at players like Wes for not improving and partying as opposed to seniors
Players who tune out when in the 11, we ourselves have said this

Hes saying he can tear up contracts and start afresh with what I'm assuming would be performance based contracts.
Well he probably could because the law can be manipulated here, but unless there's an exit clause or a performance clause, a contract is a contract.

What ZC need to focus on is creating more elite juniors
I think this is what TM thinks he did with the Wes/Shumba generation who have all gone backwards

Re: Zimbabwe Squad for Sri Lanka
I think they should offer 100k per player for a win against a member side and 5k per player for an associate win and see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't then that's not the problem.
Re: Zimbabwe Squad for Sri Lanka
It was discussed on this forum. Many here firmly believed you only needed to find 2 good players every u19 cycle and we could continue to limp along.
They believed they'd found their best two and it was job done.
Re: Zimbabwe Squad for Sri Lanka
I’m all for blunt straight talk but TM’s communication is all wrong here.
I would have gone with this:
‘ZC have implemented many structural changes over the last few years. We have seen soem of the best cricketing minds come and go in the coaching ranks, namely Streak, Houghton, whatmore etc
We cannot continue to rotate coaching staff and lay blame at their feet. At ZC, we are embarrassed that our team has failed against sides that do not enjoy the advantages of full time cricket salaries and facilities.
Going forward, there will be little tolerance for players failing in thee professional commitments as elite athletes.
Players that fail to abide by the necessary health and nutrition standards, as well as training performance standards, will have their contracts reviewed’.
That sounds much better and cleared imo^

Re: Zimbabwe Squad for Sri Lanka
Elite junior batters generally have to start from the age of about 6 from a cricketing family. They need to play up, get properly coached and play age group from u9 to u19.
We have u19, we skipped the other 14 years. The occasional tour that was organised in the past had the likes of the Pimp Meister turning it into a shit show.
