Raza to play for Biratnagar warriors (Nepal EPL t-20)
Re: Raza to play for Biratnagar warriors (Nepal EPL t-20)
Aside from any other issues I doubt there's a player around who doesn't want to string a couple of really good T20 innings together or take some wickets and possibly pick up a lucrative T20 gig somewhere, it's where cricket is headed.
ZC are taking that away from them completely. If you want to give a group of inexperienced guys exposure then A team cricket is surely the place for that?
Anyone who thinks international T20's are "meaningless" is part of the problem, and if that's really their opinion why play any domestic T20's at all? That would leave one format for our players because we don't play too many tests either.
Why play 4 day cricket if we play so few tests?
The thought process is that it's a case of "we've tolerated your shit for years and now we believe we have found replacements so we can finally teach you a lesson."
First prize is a team that doesn't lose by much, somehow miraculously wins the odd game without having much preparation and is prepared to gratefully play for peanuts and wait months for their money.
Unfortunately if players don't complain then the money is never forthcoming. The players all complain amongst themselves, the snitches report to ZC hoping to curry favor, and eventually someone tries to rally the troops and he's branded a trouble maker. That's been the case for years, it's become a bit more subtle but it's what happens.

Not defending Rajput at all. I have also said this by the way, when that news came out:

ZC was anyway about to review the coaching setup, so replace Rajput and everything back to normal, surely? I mean - this is a simple thing to fix for ZC if they are serious about it (made complicated by the public outburst now, but still...)
No arguments there. That is irrespective of this fiasco. Not just Rajput but everyone in the coaching staff, some of whom are there from pre-Rajput era.
Despite that, what I am saying is that we haven't heard Rajput's side of this story, that is all. And it is not ideal. And we run the risk of the real issue to be brushed under the carpet (which I'm sure will anyway happen). ZC and its folks could very well hide behind the Rajput fiasco and continue on their merry ways.

Top teams from subcontinent sides once launched T20 league for their development both in game as well as money. Now the associate teams like Canada, Nepal, UAE, USA are starting their own league bringing foreign players to develop as cricket nations.
Zimbabwe should try to launch their own T20 league by offering foreign players, once ZC had Stanbic Bank T20 that included star foreign players, they should rethink about this concept as the T20 league at present playing major role in developing talents, an unknown quanity becoming an overnight star. T20 leagues now are definately future for growth of any cricket nations.

Part of the huge debt we had came from that stanbic T20. We just simply can't afford it. The local economy is dead. You need big sponsors to do that, not the board. It's a problem people ignore but it has contributed heavily to our demise. "Franchise" cricket is technically supposed to have created a financial model which need minimal input from ZC but there just simply isn't enough money around. ZC has to pay for everything. We are still living with the legacy of debt from the stanbic thing. For someone to suggest we try and do that again is absolutely absurd and completely clueless with regards to Zimbabwean cricket and Zimbabwe in general.
Even if it was a raging success and profit in the past (which it wasn’t) - who the hell in terms of major sponsors would go anywhere near ZC these days?
We have so many fundamental problems in our system and we desperately to fix them first. Some random casual fan from the other side of the world who is used to the glamour of the IPL might be attracted by the bright lights of such a ‘competition’ - but we can’t even do the basics right here in Zimbabwe.
We have dozens of school cricket grounds laying abandoned. Half of our senior club teams don’t have their own grounds or facilities or equipment.
Only half a dozen high schools bother with cricket at all.
Participation is lower than 20 years ago.
We have no money,
Our club system is fucked
Our franchise system is limited and of low quality
Get the basics right first.

What i also found absurd is you have to pay every player who plays club cricket.
The random whos playing his first game to fill in gets paid 5 bucks or something to play?
everyehere else the players themselves pay fees

Re: Raza to play for Biratnagar warriors (Nepal EPL t-20)
Agreed, but you have to consider the wider economic situation. Some (a lot?) of club players can’t afford to pay fees or subs, or if they have to then they simply wouldn’t play and would not bother with cricket. There are plenty of club players who definitely can afford it but then there are those that can’t.
It is a stupid system but again really there’s no alternative in Zim. Similarly how are some of these guys going to buy equipment or even afford to travel to the ground if they aren’t getting a small stipend? Especially youngsters.
We have too few people playing club cricket already so if they are getting a few dollars for playing then we can’t really remove that.
This problem is deeper than ZC unfortunately.

Nepal GDP in 2021, 2.89% Zimbabwe 3.9 %. Zimbabwe has got mining, tobacco industries with quite sound agriculture and foresty whereas Nepal has got nothing except tourism still they can arrange this sort of tournaments with nothing big achievement in the game. Same goes with war hit Afghans, with zero peace they were able to conduct quite glamourous T20 tournament. They cant bring high cost foreign players but still they have brought quite familar foreign players who takes part in T20 tournaments worldwide
Its surprising Zimbabwe such a peaceful nation no such threat of terrorism exist, a proud nation in cricket with all their achievement still the board cant arrange a quality domestic T20 tournament by offering foreign players. Govt has zero role in developing the game. Its not the debt its lack of administration that costing this team in developing the game
2 international experienced, 2 ex Zimbo / Zim by birth ( UK, SA, AUS, NZ, any other nation based ) in each franchise will be enough to hold a quality T20 domestic tournament
