We have been beaten for a long time and basically the same guys havent fired for a combined total of about 130 innings.
We beat Oman convincingly, courtesy of our seamers, Bennett and Maru.
We had that beautiful win against a mediocre Aussie bowling attack courtesy of our seamers, Bennett, Maru and Burl.
We are yet to see the rest of our batting line-up. Well we've seen them a lot prior to this and rest assured we are about to see them again, we are now up against the big teams.
Now we've turned it around and on track to be semi-finalists, if not world champions?
I was so looking forward to that Ireland game, that would have been a good measure of where we are at.
The bottom line is the seamers have to be on point and Bennett has to fire. If Bennett fails and we lose another couple early on then we will see if the 2 year plan has worked. Something miraculous would have to have happened in the last month because we have seen for 2 years that it hasnt. Even with Bennet playing well, we are not posting more than 160/170 and we are not chasing it either, its down to our seamers to bowl miraculously.
There are 3/4 guys that shouldnt be near T20 international cricket.
We are going to see our middle/lower order three games in a row against real quality opposition and we are at the sharp end, they will know who doesnt like spin, who doesnt like it short and fast, who can't rotate off a bog standard back of a length heavy ball. Nowhere to hide..if we are 4 down inside of 12 overs we are done.
T20 World Cup Match 3 - Zimbabwe vs Ireland (17th February)
Re: T20 World Cup Match 3 - Zimbabwe vs Ireland (17th February)
Zimbabwe have always had 3-4 guys who probably shouldn't be playing international cricket, the player pool has always been small. We currently rely on Bennett, Burl, and Raza just like we used to rely on the Flowers and Houghton.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes
