Jayden is a good player, plays well in the V. He's a decent seamer too. Carries a bit of weight. Good player.
I promise you that his younger brother is the player to get excited about. If that boy stays playing cricket he's going to be excellent. I'd like to see Chiradza's birth certificate. He has to be about 35 years old by now. He's been playing junior cricket for years!!! He was a decent youngster, played nice and straight and was a good seamer, but he was playing with Byrom and Evans and the year above that (they're too old for u19 now) and then in the year below. One of the many boys ZC is prepared to bend the rules over, if he's that good put him in a franchise and let's see how he goes.

but truth is namibia is way out of these boys league
would have suggested better competition for them an
india, sri lanka or aus 19 would have been better to really
test them and see what they can do
One decent score and you are wanting to move to the next level? They're going to go under the pump at the inter-provincial shortly, let them enjoy winning a couple of games.

Ali Frost was ok, but haven't watched him in years, he goes to Hilton. Where he bats indicates he's not better than Shardendorf, who is a good player, but would need to go up a notch to be successful in our franchise, but you never know until you see it. Liam Roche is a good offie, last time I saw him he was not landing it. I saw him play a cracking T20 innings, but haven't seen enough of him to comment. If Dollar had some decent coaching he would improve a lot because he's very talented, but has work to do to be where his talent indicates. Tries to hit the ball too hard and loses shape.

absolute rubbish selection from mangongo & co. young
makoni should be nowhere opening the bat for that
u19 squad.. dollar & jayden are our best options with
shumba @ 3, robinson @ 4 ... Chiradza played a slogging
innings but nowhere near talented as dollar as a wkt batsman
tony munyonga is a better player than chiradza .. trying
to fit in his crew i guess but absolute rubbish the best
lineup should

jayden
dollar
shumba
robinson
frost
madhevere
roche
tigere
conolly
oldrieve
shara

in this lineup we have 10 all rounders & dollar as wkbatsman

Ya Chiradza disappointed me. He had a couple of half decent tours and thought he was a big deal, stopped practicing as hard yet got picked for tour after tour, and in different age groups. I'm very skeptical.

Arnold Shara has played 2 of the 4 matches so far. 2-0-28-0. Not looking like a prospect on whom we should be investing much?

Namibia having won the first ODI, are at 73/0 after 13 overs today. Looking ominous.

shara is a very good bowler who can hold the bat a bit
as well ... as for the economy rate seems every1 is
struggling & we all know where to point utseya is shit
as bowling coach just like ntini, provides absolutely
no help to the fast bowlers thats why declan & roche
the spinners are always the 1s on top irregardless of their
talent. the bowling dept will cost this team dearly
no matter how good you are chasing +260 every game
is impossible ... & dollar must surely be injured if he
is not getting game time... dont doubt these kids batting
though there are more than a couple of good capable
batsmen in there to win us matches

I remember we talked a bit about Tatenda Chiradza 2-3 years ago. From what you say it sounds as if you believe Alvin Chiradza is the same person? (According to cricinfo Alvin is a year younger, but also from PE).

The sad thing is that players like Jayden and Frost are unlikely ever to play FC cricket and we will be left with the fringe players of this side feeding through to our domestic season.

Is there any point in playing them?

Not playing them is the most negative step one can take. That move will just wipe out any quality youngster with higher studies ambitions from playing even schools cricket. Would be more regressive than the current situation. Creating a platform for them to stick around somehow is the constructive step ahead.

When was the last time we had an opener from age groups level score back to back hundreds? I'd say throw him an ODI cap and lock him into the system. We were in a way successful with that approach in case of Hamilton, Taibu, Sean Ervine and Brendan Taylor. The former 3 had already played for Zim before playing for the Zim U19 WC. Coventry and Williams were in early too.

If I were ZC, I would play Trent Jayden and Ryan Murray in an ODI series as soon as possible and try to secure their services with good contract deals. Giving them regular FC / List A game time would also become a priority. ZC should present to them a 5 year plan for their progress that would convince them to stay with the game. Those two are clearly looking like by far the best batting / keeping talent to come out of schools in recent times.

Among the bowlers, I hope Mavuta gets to play regular FC cricket this season and would be knocking on the doors of national selection by the end of the season. If he is going to turn out for the Mountaineers, time to cast Mushangwe aside and focus on him. Progress of the fast bowlers of the previous U19 batch would totally depend on the coaching exposure they get.
