Another day, another defeat. Slightly more competitive with the bat but the bowling still looks poor.

Out by handled ball just before the half century. Very Zimbabwean.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 10:03 amhttps://www.crichq.com/matches/975646/2nd_innings

Mcini dube looks OK. Has been bowling short spells
Has been the case with most of the under 19 bowling attack. Seems trying out combinations is more important than winning.Might not be too overly concerned at the moment as looking at innings very few bowled more than 5 overs

Yeah Dube stood out as a 12/13 year old years ago and was one to watch. Last saw him about two or so years ago playing for CBC and he was quick. Hopefully he’s developed even more since

Thats great news, we nd to be churning out express pace bowlers on a regular basis. We have an oversupply of spinners and most of them aren't that good

Good performance by the U19s. However, that Zim Select XI looks like a rag-tag collection of players, including the retired Elton Chigumbura

Sure, it’s not exactly a strong ‘Select XI’, but a win is a win and will do a lot for confidence. Dube is in good form. Top order firing too. Hopefully they keep it up.
It’s still going to be tough. This is less than ideal preparation.

Youre right, the kids can only play/beat the team in front of them. Our preps for the U19 WC have been shambles, this team which has several players from the last tournament, could have gone far. Given that last WC, a good West Indies U19 cricket team had to employ bad sportmanship/"cheating" to beat our boyssecretzimbo wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 12:22 amSure, it’s not exactly a strong ‘Select XI’, but a win is a win and will do a lot for confidence. No that was the WC prior to the last one.
Looks like NZ have pulled out and have been replaced by Scotland. They cite the quarantine complications on their return to NZ from West Indies. What a load of bullshit.
Which 19 year old would complain about any kind of quarantine thrown at them for the chance to go to a WC?
It's a little ominous. It's like the women teams here waiting for an excuse to get the hell out of Dodge. I don't see NZ being the last team to find an excuse not to go. I wonder how committed ZC is to this?
The next thing is with Covid running through the players It's likely that there will be a couple of the U19's that will test positive. What's the latest you are able to test negative before you are given the green light to board the plane?
Unless they lift these ridiculous flight restrictions It's not going to be that easy to even get there. There's an outside chance that this isn't even going to happen in my opinion.
