Jongwe single handedly wanting to finish this in one over. This man needs to be dropped for good. He has done nothing of note in the last few months.
Shumba too can join him on the sideline for a bit. Such a poor fielder. Saw it first hand at the Gabba too.

Lol we picked up jongwe over Evans . Lost two easy games . You can't be a zimbwean fan and be happy for too long

I should've known to not have expectations after the Pakistan win
Re: Zimbabwe v Netherlands | T20 WC 2022 | Super 12 | Match Thread
It is a lame defeat to say the least. Ervine has to go as both player and captain. To give Jongwe that over after having Netherlands under at least some kind of wobble was criminal.
Re: Zimbabwe v Netherlands | T20 WC 2022 | Super 12 | Match Thread
It's ok, the Dutch would not have lost all the games, they are also a good side. Overall a good WC for Zimbabwe. I agree the defeats hurt but as long as they improve going forward and select some new players, I'll be happy.

Their worst performance so far.
I guess the big lesson Dave and the selectors can learn from here was picking the right squad. It looks like Wellington was never going to play. An extra batsman would have done the trick. Also you can't pick a keeper who is never going to play because he isn't ready for this level.. its 2 passengers in the squad on top of 3 batsman in the 11 who are struggling. We are minnows. Expecting to play the same 11 or 12 guys over 8 matches is a serious miscalculation.
Mutumbami has his off field problems but he can strike the ball better than both Regis and Madande. We are all with good reason upset that Marumani didn't make it to Australia but if we are using the domestic scene as the measure Mutumbami was averaging 73 in the T10 with a strike rate of 164. Second most runs behind Marumani. This is a once off tournament. Pick the best we have and not for the future.
Madande averaged 15 with a strike rate of 118 in that same T10 tournament. I personally don't care if Mutumbami is a prick on or off the field. These players are professionals, you don't get to pick who you work with when you are getting paid handsomely for it. If its a coach like Rajput fine I understand that but you can't be 30 plus years old and let another player get under your skin. That's my own opinion on that.
Chakabva has been riding off form for the past 18 months. Once he lost that his usual problems were clear to see in the shorter formats. It has been a big risk basically not putting him under pressure.
Shumba is having a shocker of a tournament and he definitely needs to be dropped after this.

True that. In my mind I was thinking doesn't Blessing have one more over? In that situation you had to go back to your best bowler.
Re: Zimbabwe v Netherlands | T20 WC 2022 | Super 12 | Match Thread
Time to forget this and build for the worldcup qualifiers in zimbabwe next year ? We should be better in longer format Do we have any of Ballance etc coming in ?
Re: Zimbabwe v Netherlands | T20 WC 2022 | Super 12 | Match Thread
What choice did he have? We always try to look for blame somewhere else. Selection selection selection cost us this game and the super 12s. Jongwe stopped being a cricketer years ago, his batting is erratic as his bowling as how he lives his life. Taibu was right but you were living in fantasies calling for Jongwe and Zhuwao who are not good enough at this level. I remember my last posts here years ago calling for the same, its more than just racial selection even among the black players the selection is terrible. A simple Kundai Matigimu for Chatara would have gone a long way. Never mind when i spoke of how massively overrated Shumba is, spent quite a lot of time watching him when he was 15/16 after all the noise and surprisingly i saw a lot of sound u19 batsman better than him. We can’t make changes to the team because the bench warmers we took are shittier players. Marumani and Mashinge for Shumba and Jongwe and the output will be better. How ZC failed to see Murray was a best wk for years to come is still shocking. Those changes only could have made a difference. We played with only 2 proper seamers that’s 8 overs, the rest 12 you want to fill with part timers at this level that’s impossible. Jongwe is given an over only when the game is lost and taken out because we lose quicker.. tell me are we trying to win or lose and noone seems to have an answer here on what does Jongwe do ?
