What intrigues me is ICC went about sharing celebratory tweets commemorating Taylor's retirement while ZC was quiet. I mean, at least ICC could have also kept things a bit low key given what was coming? At least people would not have noticed such contrast between the treatment of ICC and ZC. And ZC itself treated BT strange over the course of this saga, giving captaincy once and completely ignoring the retirement in the end. Very badly managed overall. The fact remains BT in the main culprit and a lot of stupidity on his part, but the management of the situation shows a lot of stupidity by ICC and ZC too.

What an miserable mess he got himself into by not reporting it.

He could have easily reported it as soon as he got home and gave the money to the ICC, at that stage he would have only been Quilty of doing coke which is hardly the crime of the century.

Yes, this would have managed to nip it in the bud. He got himself into a corner by not having a clear thought process at that point. Sad. Hope he can get out of this mental rut he has gotten himself into soon through the rehabilitation.

Also, lot of respect for Cremer, who did the right thing with such a scenario, despite being very close to Streak and Taylor who both should have done better.

I wonder if cremer actually walked away from the game due to the issues that he could of been aware of. Going to the uae could have been a good out for him. I always found it a bit strange he retired based on how little Zim actually play although his kids would have been without a parent at times if he continued

That's a good point. If he did that, he saw the rot all around him and gave up. I always thought he looked a little dim, but hey, he seems like the brightest guy now, looking at how BT and Streak handled things.

Pretty easy to judge someone who thinks that Zimbabwe is a better country than Rhodesia was.

Just speaking generally, depends on the angle the person is looking from. Racial segregation, yes. Economy and social welfare, no.

BTW who remembers when 5+ years ago when I used to talk all the time about match fixing could be a real issue in Zim and everyone thought i was an idiot

I think people would see ourselves as hard working down to earth people who know right from wrong in these instances. We also probably thought that there would no real monetary value in our matches. So perhaps Zim didn't really appeal to bookies. We've been proven wrong.

When you deprive people of a livelihood, you become an even bigger target and as we've discovered, a whole game does not need to be fixed for these bookies to make money.

I mean, even the Kenyans suffered from fixing scandals somehow. Incredible how the West Indians havent ever been caught in something before despite their own financial misfortunes

Something taht doesn’t quite gel is:
-he still played for a year.
-was captain
- was named as part of the legends league
-big send off by the ICC

It feels this has been pushed by something that happened in a recent development

Sad story. Naive to have taken the bait and to have fallen for it, but this shouldn't be a catalyst for those in ZC to blame everything on him.

He is not supporting Taylor. He is just justifying why players were not paid for 6 months at the time.
