Genuine question but why is everyone keener on Munyonga than Marumani?
I like them both but just curious . Munyonga has had 1 good innings? He’s good and his time will come for sure though. But Marumani needs another go imo

Both of them should be there really. We have the experience of raza and ervine in middle overs and the relatuve experience of burl.
Get them in

Haha not just you mate, a few people have seemed to prefer Munyonga.
I don't know if 1 good innings out of 6 in Nepal is enough to suddenly be in the national side really. I think there's only space for 1 of them at the moment, and for me we are crying out for an opener in T20s so it has to be Marumani. I can see him dominating associate attacks in the qualifier.

In fairness to young muyonga he didnt bat in the second 20/20 match and he scored a nice 24 in 12 balls in last ODI when zimbabwe were hitting out setting a rain affected target.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 9:52 amHaha not just you mate, a few people have seemed to prefer Munyonga.

I would deffo have him in the 20/20 squad.
Marumani for sure. Who would he replace. Chakhabva? Maybe the selectors saw this partnership in ireland at top with madhevere and want one old head at the top for experience?
Re: Zimbabwe Vs Namibia | 1st T20I | 17th May 2022
I think with Raza essentially replacing Williams in the top 4 we need another power hitter down the order to complement and compete with Burl. This is especially for when we are chasing 180 plus. At the moment nobody is sure when Williams will be back.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 9:52 amHaha not just you mate, a few people have seemed to prefer Munyonga.

No definitely not Chakabva, Marumani isn't a good Keeper. Replace one of the seamers, preferably DT. I can't see why we need 4 seamers on a pitch as slow as this - we had too many bowlers yesterday, very unbalanced.Donald wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 10:00 amIn fairness to young muyonga he didnt bat in the second 20/20 match and he scored a nice 24 in 12 balls in last ODI when zimbabwe were hitting out setting a rain affected target.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 9:52 amHaha not just you mate, a few people have seemed to prefer Munyonga.

Madhevere should drop down the order to 4 or 5 I think.
I'd have Marumani & Ervine opening ideally, but Regis is okay there too.

I like Madhevere as an opener. Yeah he doesn't often score big runs but he routinely does get those quick starts.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 10:09 amNo definitely not Chakabva, Marumani isn't a good Keeper. I agree that Madhevere does a good job at the top of the order.
20 odd off 12 every match gives us a great start to the innings, I prefer that to a slow start where we end up 2 down anyway because of pressure.
I would make 2 changes to the 11. Evans and Nyauchi in for Tiripano and Chivanga. Unfortunately due to the conditions Mavuta is a cert in the 11, I still believe he can improve though so haven’t given up on him just yet.
We could even take Jongwe out and play an extra batsmen like Marumani.
Shumba is proving to be a bowling option, I don’t know where it has come from because his bowling was awful the last couple of years.

Re: Zimbabwe Vs Namibia | 1st T20I | 17th May 2022
Wes is way too technically gifted to just be a slogger trying to desperately hit every ball in the first couple of overs. He's classy and would be better in the middle order. Marumani is the big hitter you need up there.
Why do we need 4 specialist seamers on Zimbabwe's slowest pitch though?I would make 2 changes to the 11. Evans and Nyauchi in for Tiripano and Chivanga. Unfortunately due to the conditions Mavuta is a cert in the 11, I still believe he can improve though so haven’t given up on him just yet.
Definitely play an extra batsman. Although Jongwe bowled really well yesterday, doesn't deserve to be dropped after that.We could even take Jongwe out and play an extra batsmen like Marumani.
Re: Zimbabwe Vs Namibia | 1st T20I | 17th May 2022
If Wes is good enough, he won't keep hitting 20s at the top. He'll start going bigger. We have to find someone capable of hitting big knocks up top. Especially against teams just below us.
