Nyauchi in fine form. It’s a shame we have no test matches lined up :(

So they’ve really mixed the teams up. What’s the point of this game? It’s completely meaningless at this point. Nice that they’ve given Evans a go, but some of the other selections are lol

Completely different squads today, really frustrating, just reiterates that these games are not important. Just seems like everyone is getting an extra game.

Players like Mutsamba and tshuma amongst others shouldn’t be part of these squads.

Oh well at least it is another game of cricket to watch. Looking forward to Nyauchi taking a 5fer.

I see St Johns and particularly St George’s had a rough time in SA last week. Doesn’t bode well for the future
Are those the top schools in ZIM?
In cricket yeah they are amongst the top handful

Maruma is back

What a joke this whole thing is. Some players have swapped teams. Many of our best players aren’t playing. People have turned up unannounced. These squads are literally no stronger than normal Logan Cup lineups at all!

Are these games basically supposed to be selection trials? Because if we think 35-year olds Tafara Chingwara and Remembeance Nyathi are in contention we might as well give up.

Lol Brandon Mavuta is 12th man running drinks. One of the best players in the Logan season, but he can’t get a game in either of these 5-day matches?!

If we are just giving literally everyone a game randomly, surely Burl isn’t that bad and should have been given a run out.

Toby muyonga has obviously had instructions to try and take game into 4th day. Doing his best impression of a barnacle. Very slow strike rate though

Watched bits of the stream today, it's been okay. Mudzingnayama looked good after a torrid season. Nyauchi bowled really well (again). Some of the other shots from the Southerns team were abysmal though. And then Evans bowling looked really really good.

Sorry but Remembrance Nyathi - this is a ridiculous selection. He's had 1 good game in the past four years. His last three games for Rhinos yielded scores of 0, 8, 0, 0, 8 and 18. He's 35 and has never played for the national side. 15-year career average of 25 and he doesn't bowl anymore. There are better players playing amateur club cricket in Harare today.

Tafara Chingwara - 35 years old, never been near a national side. Played all 8 Logan Cup games this season and finished with a bowling average of 38. Again there are better bowlers playing in the Harare league today.

Donald Tiripano - a great servant but he is 34 and he has just lost his national contract for the first time in many years - which suggests selectors have moved on from him. So why is he playing here, if these are national team selection games? He's just averaged 40 with the ball in his past 8 Logan Cup games. Is it right to reward stats as bad as that?

Maruma - please please please can we move on. At least they didn't pick Chamu

Chimhamhiwa - Are we saying this guy is a better option than, e.g., Jongwe or Mumba? 40+ career games and his bowling average is 30. That doesn't scream future Test player to me.

Looking at these two line-ups and in no way are they any stronger than a standard Logan Cup fixture. So what's the point? Why are we playing this meaningless fixture, with meaningless teams and average players, in a year where we have a T20WC coming up and plenty of ODI fixtures? This is absolutely mind boggling. It's such a waste of time. I could get behind these extra red ball fixtures if we had our best 22 cricketers out there, but we haven't.

They could have played 10 T20's per team in this two week window ffs....

Bookmark this. I told u guys that this last u19 squad was the end of the road. School cricket is the absolute lowest standard one could possibly imagine. And nothing is going to fix it.
