Yeah USA are through, and it does look like the umpiring was horrendous.

WCQs are a very important event, if there is no DRS for the event then that will be a disaster. Zimbabwe have often been at the receiving end of poor decisions even from their own local umpires.

USA's Ali Khan took a 7-fer vs Jersey. He took five wickets in his first 16 deliveries...surely that must be the fastest 5 wicket haul in ODI history!

USA clinches their sport for the Qualifiers!!!

Namibia and UAE still in contention but UAE almost certainly through unless they slip up big time vs Jersey.

Interesting to see when they update this. Ryan Burl actually holds the record for the greatest strike rate in an ODI innings. That game in Australia.

Burl took 18 deliveries but I do remember they did mention that Chaminda Vaas took got 5 wickets in 16 balls against Bangladesh in the 2003 World Cup

Jongwe also on that list for his 5/6 off 5.1 overs v Afghanistan.

That innings never gets mentioned on here, great bowling performance that day.

Associate twitter is furious lol. Also furious about the apparently horrendous umpiring. And apparently Ali Khan and the Americans were cunts during play
Maybe the American's were celebrating with a little MAGA flair

In all seriousness though, Peter Della Penna posted on fb that Jersey has a reputation for cuntish behavior. IDK who started it. But doesn't make sense why the USA would all of a sudden be dicks towards one of the weaker sides in international cricket.

UAE have qualified for the WCQs, so Namibia miss out and this is now confirmed by the ICC.

So the 10 teams for WCQs unless something incredible happens between Ireland and Bangladesh are as below:

West Indies
Sri Lanka
Ireland
Zimbabwe
Netherlands
Scotland
Oman
Nepal
USA
UAE

With due respect, I think the last 4 in that list won't make it. So basically it is between the top 6. It will be interesting to see the grouping that happns.

Can probably discount Scotland too at the moment. Theyve had a few retirements, have no coach currently and their board is in turmoil.

Remains to be seen what squad Netherlands can send. If they are missing county players then I can’t see them qualifying.

Realistically qualification is between the top four but as we’ve seen before any of these teams can beat any of the others and 1 random defeat to USA or Nepal can really fuck it up

Ireland hosting their Bangladesh series in England ‘because it rains less there’ is hilarious. In England!!!! Christ how much does it rain in Ireland?!?! I’m sure they must all have webbed feet

People blame the exodus on the potato famine, but fairly sure the weather is good incentive to pack their spiders.

I wouldn’t be confident enough to come to any preconceived conclusions about this tournament. Going off the last edition, the pitches will start to wear as the tournament progresses & that will make teams like Nepal & UAE very dangerous.

The groups will be very crucial, not sure exactly how they will get picked, but we could luck in & end up with an easy group. Need to avoid playing the Windies at the back end of the tournament I reckon, much rather get them in game 1.
