[Match Thread] Zimbabwe v Kenya - 4th ODI

Post by Sir Mupariwa »

1) HAMILTON - form & consistency
2) VERMULEON - he is promising
3) TAYLOR - Coventry is inconsistent we need stability here
4) MATSIKENYERI - form
5) MUTIZWA - did very well against Kenya last series and is consistent
6) CHIGUMBURA - allrounder
7) WALLER - he's the only other batsmen
8) UTSEYA - he is the captain
9) PRICE - best bowler
10)GARWE - give him a chance
11MPOFU - give him a chance

We need to change the squad and look for the winning combination i felt selectors missed the trick in the last game, they wanted to kill it off with the same squad but overlooked the fact that Coventry was a passenger and three spinners - one specialist pace bowler was not the best of combinations. Jarvis is good and very promising but he should have some experienced guy like Rainsford(bowling economical on the other side) to guide him through especially now in he's debut series. Thats my team for forth ODI i feel we should hit Kenya with a very good pace attack and catch them off guard.
12.4 Odhiambo to Vermeulen, FOUR, that's an appalling long hop, Vermulen had plenty of time to get into position, drink a cup of tea, and pull the ball towards the long leg boundary- his first boundary today

Nice team Sir Mupariwa but it has to be said that the Zimbabwean team has become very difficult to predict of late. I prefer would keeping Coventry in the team but have him batting at 5/6. Waller's recent form hasnt been anything to talk about. We need to rep up things tomorrow so we need a stronger batting line up.

Indeed... very good lineup, Sir Mupariwa. It's good to see that you are a Mark Vermeulen fan like me. :D

I would prefer this lineup for the 4th ODI:

1. Hamilton Masakadza
2. Mark Vermeulen
3. Charles Coventry
4. Brendan Taylor (WK)
5. Sean Williams/Forster Mutizwa (if Williams is unfit)
6. Stuart Matsikenyeri
7. Elton Chigumbura
8. Prosper Utseya
9. Graeme Cremer
10. Raymond Price
11. Kyle Jarvis (Mpofu can be here also)

Christopher Mpofu (12th men)

i was a bit hush on Coventry i love that guy so much and it pains me to see him hit such a bad patch after that 194, i agree we should bat him down the order and bring him up bit by bit

Hi fellas, I will take one for ZCF. I will mosdef. be at the game tomorrow and on Sunday but I wont hv access to the net. If anyone wants an update you can text me on +26311579009. I will be glad to help with updates.

I hope we win both games and take this series 4-1. That would really set us up for tha Banglabash Tour. A lot of people were saying that we lost to Banglabash the last time out because the team lacked match fitness. So after this run we wont have any excussess.

Chappie Coventry needs a score desperately, very odd considering his 194* wasn't that long ago. but if you're out of form and there are players waiting then he has to be dropped. Don't get me wrong i know Coventry is a very good player and on form would make the first XI for sure but Forster Mutizwa must be wondering what more he has to do to play for the national team

It seems ridiculous to consider dropping Coventry after his innings against Bangladesh.

The bare facts though, are that in 10 innings since that day he has managed just 164 @ 16.40, at National level that becomes 37 @ 9.25 which cannot justify his place in the side.

Personally, i would like to see him drop to 5 or 6 in tomorows game to take the pressure off early in the innings and see him allowed to take the Kenyan bowlers on rather than worry about building the innings.

Just like any other player, the big innings can't keep him in the side indefinitely when a player like Forster Mutizwa is sitting on the sidelines.

Well, Pricey is opening the bowling with Jarvis, which is unusual...
