Matabeleland Tuskers v Mashonaland Eagles
Queen's Sports Club, Bulawayo, 19 October 2009
Bottom-of-the-table battle: Eagles played 3, lost 3, Tuskers played 2, lost 2. At least one of them's going to get a win on the board, barring rain...

Tuskers loose again by 4 wickets this time

Good contributions by Meth, Ebrahim and Duffin with the bat for the tuskers
Greg Lamb continuing his good form with bat and ball for the Eagles and the new man Mark Mbofana making a good impression at the moment i wonder where he came from?

Lots of new men by the look of it, Keith Dabengwa, making his comeback from injury, and Stev Chimhamhiwa for Tuskers while Eagles had Tafadzwa Mufambisi, Mark Mbofana and T Gumunyu-Manatsa.
Good to see Terry Duffin get some runs at last and i like the fact that Tinotenda Mutumbodzi is being given a good chance to make a name for himself.
One little thing i noticed is that Duffin, according to cricinfo, was not captain today, maybe it's been given to Greg Strydom in order to take some pressure off Duffin, i would have thought that Dion Ebrahim was the more likely replacement though.

Great performance by Eagles. The team is starting to shape up now good to see Lamb putting in some good performances. And this lab Mbofana seems to be on fire his seems like a really great prospect. I guess these are some of the fruits of the New Cricket system. We all get to see new talent being born.

Poor my team Tuskers !
Not going well at all...
228 runs on the scoreboard in 50 overs aren't enough...Competitive if the side has a strong bowling lineup but can't say it's a winning total.
Positives for Tuskers are Terrence Duffin's return to form finally making 53 runs. Dion Ebrahim and Keegan Meth both 59 and 51 runs respectively but I reckon at least one of them needed to go on to make the team total extended.
Another thing as Train Driver mentioned, it's good to see the captaincy is taken off from Duffin. He really needs to concentrate more in his batting rather than anything. Gregory Strydom is given the captaincy. Probably he had some experience of captaining the Matabeleland side before. But I would reckon also Dion Ebrahim would have been a good contender also.
Keith Dabengwa has finally appeared for the Tuskers after his injury lay off. But Gavin Ewing should have been selected...Can't agree at all about his omission.

Gavin Ewing is injured it said in the logan cup match report that he ran out Mujuru after a mix up with his runner who was Ebrahim, so that explains why he did not bowl in the logan cup match and why he didnt play yesterday

Mashonaland Eagles triumph over Mat Tuskers
By Godfrey Koti
MATABELELAND Tuskers got off to a disastrous start as they managed to score a total of 228 all out in 50 overs, which allowed Mashonaland Eagles to make the set target with four balls to spare at Queens Ground in Bulawayo yesterday.
Mashonaland Eagles won by four wickets.
Terrence Duffin whose performance has been below expectations of late redeemed himself as he made 53 off 65 balls. Wicketkeeper Regis Chakabva stumped him.
Dion Ebrahim made 59 off 87 balls and Keegan Meth scrapped a valuable 51 runs only to be bowled by an in-form Admire Manyumwa.
The stand-in captain Gregory Strydom made 19 off 27 balls while Keith Dabengwa, Matthew Williams and Tawanda Mupariwa contributed 10 runs to leave the score on 218 for nine. The ever energetic John Nyumbu partnered by the Zimbabwe Under-19 pace man Steven Chimhamiyo brought the hosts to their 228.
Nyumbu attempted to hit Mark Mbofana for six only to be caught by Englishman Chris Silverwood.
Mbofana bagged four wickets for 20 runs in seven overs making him the star of the Eagles bowling attack.
Manyumwa impressed his employers again as he took three for 40 runs while Tinotenda Mutombodzi and skipper Greg Lamb managed to grab a wicket each.
Mashonaland set a very attacking field to restrict the hosts although skipper Lamb dropped a sitter off an attempted off-drive from Duffin.
Eagles went to bat after lunch break with Alois Tichana (10) and Tafadzwa Mufambisi (38) and were determined to win displaying some great One Day cricket shots.
Tichana was caught by Ebrahim to give Dabengwa his first wicket of the match.
Mufambisi fell victim to former captain Mupariwa while Nyumbu claimed Ryan Butterworth who could only make 14 runs.
The Eagles skipper led from the front as he made 67 runs after facing 63 balls he was involved in a seventh wicket partnership with Manyumwa which yielded 39 runs to land the visitors a win in the shorter version of the game.
Mupariwa and Dabengwa were once again the pick of the bowlers proving wrong their critics and recording figures of two for 37 in 10 overs and two for 42 respectively.
Nyumbu, Zimbabwe A’s newly found spinner and Matthew Williams managed to grab one wicket each. Debutant Chimhamiyo played some remarkable cricket.
