Once again i find myself amazed at the total lack of effort that ZC appear to put into publicising the sport that they are the supposed guardians of.

I have looked in as many places as i can think of on the internet and have yet to find any official announcement from ZC regarding the departure of the squad to Bangladesh, they don't even appear to be bothered about announcing which players actually make up the touring party ! All that seems to be available is the excuse for a website that has been under construction for what must be months now, what little information it carries is hardly ever kept correct or remotely up to date.

With so many changes having taken place within Zimbabwean cricket this year, is it too much to expect some effort to try and convey to both the Zimbabwean supporters, and the cricket world generally, what is happening with the rebuilt game on a regular basis ?

Probably the most obvious and stupid failure has been the inexcusable lack of scorecard information, today is the 21st and we still await details of play from Masvingo on 17th and 19th, i fully appreciate that it's very easy for me to sit in England complaining while Zimbabwe is trying to recover from years of neglect, but can it be that difficult for ZC to make some effort to show that they are in control and taking the game forward alongside the franchises ?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if ZC had someone who could post on this messageboard, it may just surprise them how widespread the support for Zimbabwean cricket is and how many people want to see it succeed.

I bet this would greatly help on the flow of information. Its amazing to think that ZC actually has a Communication Department one really wonders what these guys are doing. And also its very worrying that the ZC site hasnt been completed up to now I wonder whats taking so long. The only problem is that most of these guys just do it for the money and not for the love of the game hence they over look some of the "little" bits of information the make a world of difference to the Fans. There was a report on the National TV late night of the Team having left for Bangladesh but no hits on the composition of the travelling party. I only got wind to the SA tour on a SA television. The Zimbabwean media in general doesnt give Cricket its due recognition especially considering that serve for 7's Rugby this is the only sport we are still competiting on the world stage.

Many people out there still have their doubts about the ZC executive and what they are really doing in the interest of cricket. Perhaps to date their best move was appointing Alistar Campbell and Co. to run the game and for them to ... ... ... well, do what ever it is they do.

The Logan Cup and Faithwear lack of info fiasco can easily be taken care of using 3 people max: 2 at the matches on the phone to a 3rd at HQ with a laptop. They should really put more effort on information dissemination.

I know for a fact they read the boards, but yes, it would be great if they would post as well.

Their fan communication efforts at the moment seem to be focussed on Facebook - they have a reasonably-active 'official' fanpage over there (more active than the website, anyways!): http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=287759805456

...but they need to get their act together with the official communications. ZCN's on their media mailing list these days, but even over the course of the Kenya series we got I think two releases. And don't get me started on the domestic results fiasco.

I have just finished sending an email to ZC media, a very polite one may i add, bemoaning this lack of information and also the fact that no official announcement seems to exist as to who actually got on the aircraft to Bangladesh.

It will be interesting to see if i receive a reply tomorrow on either point.

What i simply can't understand is how updates were received for day 3 of the Logan match and then Masvingo seems to have completely disappeared from the face of the earth.

I suppose it's possible that Rhinos had an easy win and the Rocks players set fire to the scorecards ...........

I really hope that the individual franchises can get their own websites into operation soon, that would solve most of the problems.

Oh well, i sent my email last night to media@zimcricket.org and have found it returned as undeliverable this morning.

Back to square one i guess .......
