Heath Streak is part of a newly introduced team, "Ahmedabad Rockets". Teams are listed here: http://content-ind.cricinfo.com/icl/con ... 40871.html.

Streak plays under Damien Martyn's captaincy. Other captains include Chris Harris and Stuart Law. I would have loved to see Streak captain a side ahead of these three.

Another surprise. Streak's team also has Murray Goodwin! Are his glorious county days over?

No, Murray Goodwin will be able to continue to play county cricket as he is registered as a kolpak.

The stupidity of the ICL situation is that any registered kolpak player can continue without sanction, English players such as Chris Read and Darren Maddy can continue to play county cricket but would not be selected for England at international level but Mushtaq Ahmed is likely to be barred from playing for Sussex because the ECB require a 'No Objection Certificate' from his home Cricket Board.

We have a situation here at Sussex where Murray will turn out as normal, thankfully, but our 2 overseas players from last season, which have to be reduced to 1 this season, are both likely to be banned. Rana Naved-ul-Hasan is supposed to be joining Yorkshire but by signing his ICL contract and being declined an NOC by the Pakistan Cricket Board has been told by Yorkshire that he must cancel his ICL or his contract offer will be withdrawn. In the case of Mushtaq, he has an ongoing contract with Sussex and was issued with an NOC prior to signing his ICL contract, the PCB are now threatening to withdraw the NOC making him ineligible to play here.

The entire thing is becoming a farce with different Cricket Boards taking different stances while all are supporting the Board of Cricket Control of India. It is the BCCI who are determined to destroy the ICL while the others are supporting them for one reason, cash.

The only way this situation will resolve itself is by the BCCI recognising the ICL or, more likely, a restraint of trade legal action which the players are almost certain to win but will take time and cause unneccesary ill feeling within the game.

IPL is endorsed by all the cricket boards. Players become automatically unavailable for their Indian teams if they have international duties.

ICL is another story though.

Heath Streak proved his presence in all departments of game when his useful contributions as well as astute advice helped Ahmedabad Rockets to start IC with a bang. After electing to bat first after skipper Martyn won the toss, Rockets-and opener Wavell Hinds in particular-needed no invitation to start with a bang. Hinds smashed the new ball to all corners putting on record 122 runs for the first wicket with Sachin Dholpure.

It was the off-spin of Dinesh Mongia which resulted in to the fall of first wicket for Rockets.
Cairns did further damage when he picked up Murray Goodwin off the very next delivery to make it 134 for 5 for Rockets in 17 overs. Some hard hitting by Heath Streak, who hit three consecutive fours off the last three balls of the last over, propelled Rockets to a challenging total of 158 for 5.
Chasing 159, Vincent fell early but Mathew Elliot and TP Singh and the pair cracked off 54 runs off 44 balls. Streaky, earlier advised keeper Vora to be close to stump when he comes to bowl and exactly that happened when he was given ball in 10th over as TP was stumped by Vora in second attempt.

S Sriram removed danger man Mathew Elliot in the 12th over to make it 74 for 3 for Lions before skipper Chris Cairns and Dinesh Mongia took chargewith few towering 6s. At this stage Heath forced Martyn (who acknowledged later) to bring back Dizzy. Gilespie struck in that crucial 16th over removing Chris Cairns 7 tilting balance. Streak then came from other end to scalp the wicket of Dinesh Mongia and it was all curtains for Lions who ended their innings on 139 for 6.

i watched the game and heath bowled very well... I really hope he returns to zim we really could do with his pace bowling and lower order stricking i think there is a possability of him coming back im sure if he did ZC would offer him a contract dispite the differances he had with the board because they will relise what a huge boost he would be to the side if he came back we would be ready for test cricket and our side wouldnt be far off the strength it was 7 or 8 years ago...

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and Sourav Ganguly unveiled Kolkata Knight Riders, the Kolkata team of the upcoming IPL, at a glittering ceremony today.
Shahrukh also released the team's official song-"Korbo, Lorbo, Jitbo" (We will do it, fight it and win it) - and playing shirts. The colours of the team are black and gold. And the team's mascot will be a tiger called "Hoog Lee"."Black is the colour of goddess Kali (a symbol of Kolkata) and we aim for gold," Shah Rukh Khan said.

Tatenda Taibu’s team owner is Shahrukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment in partnership with Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta. Sourav Ganguly is the icon player and will lead the Kolkata franchise.

Intresting to see how John handles 3 hot-headed individuals in the team- Saurav, Shoaib & Ponting.

At least there is one Zimbabwean (so far) in the IPL :)
Did you mean the ICL? For there's Heath Streak and Murray Goodwin playing for Ahmedabad Rockets.

If I may add, the tributary of Ganges on which Kolkata is located is called River "Hoogly"

Unless something significant has happened, it is only Tatenda Taibu.

Its just to give u some information abt the buid up to IPL happening in India.......Its all money here and the market has been captured by the growing interests of IPL.All the things the players use have been marketed and Taibu's team(Kolkata Tigers) is a forerunner for alll the recent developments.

In a game, only 4 of the foreign players can be in the team.Every team has 3-4 contracted Indian team players and the rest will be prominent local players making up the 11 for the day.As Taibu's team has almost 8 foreign players including a w/k who is McCullum himself,Iam sure he wont get a look at the team for atleast 4 games from the start. As each team has 12 games(both home and away),he will be getting 2 games atmost I think. But,he is now in company of the worlds best-Ganguly as captain,Ponting,Hussey,McCullum,Hafeezetc.

Now they are playing some practice games within themselves. In one game 2 days before,Ponting's XI Vs Hussey's XI saw grt excitement.Batting 1st,Ponting's XI scored around 140 in 20 overs with Ponting(46 ret) and Hafeez(40 ret).TAIBU scored a blistering 18 of just 9 deliveries and kept his presence felt. But,Hussey's XI overcame the target quite comfortably with 2 overs to spare almost.ganguly didnt take part and he was in rest.
