SEAN WILLIAMS WATCH SINCE CWC15

With Dav Whatmore's Zimbabwe collapsing at home against Associates Ireland as it is - should win in the end but not without a major scare - the most important question is not why Malcolm Waller was even selected. That would be like trying to flog a dead horse. It isn't even the fact that Hamilton Masakadza was dropped - which some have explained in various reasons - mental, emotional & physical "fatigue".

The biggest question is - "Why is Sean Williams still in the XI?"

If we were to take those who argue that Hamilton Masakadza was dropped because of form, then surely Sean Williams with this record deserved to go first:
12 Matches, 222 Runs, 22.20 Average, 1 Fifty
Vusi Sibanda was dropped because of such stats! Hamilton Masakadza was dropped because of much better!

Counter-arguments are that he bowls well, yet again in that department too his record is very poor:
12 Matches, 425 Runs Conceded, 3 Wickets, 141.66 Average
Prosper Usteya was dropped because of better stats!

It's only logical that Zimbabwe should get a proper batsman to replace Malcolm - Brian Chari in the squad, already averages & has shown more than him in the few times he's played, Mutombodzi about the same as Malcolm, and Kasuza promises, so certainly there are takers who deserve longer runs.

But also, there are plenty young spinners begging for an opportunity to bowl before Cremer comes back, and surely if Williams is one-third of a 3-prong spin attack they must surely have a case to play them ahead of him.

Sean Williams has cost the team a negative 203 Runs! For the sake of fairness, he must be dropped from this ODI XI!

Dross? Dross is this 209/8 chasing just 219 at home against rusty Associates Ireland.

Dross is failing to score 130 runs in 4 successive internationals.

Dross is being bowled out twice by Pakistan in ODIs (128&161).

Dross is Cremer's woeful 5 match ODI spell which never resulted in him being dropped, yet Mutombodzi is dropped after just one game, but Malcolm Waller retained.

Dross is Malcolm Waller's selection.

Dross avoiding relevant topics and ridiculing them in denial.

It's a free world, freedom of speech, all entitled to their opinions, but Sean Willaims must be dropped. Possibly scoring a big hundred or taking a fifer in the next game does not change the fact that precedents and trends and fairness must be consistent!

You're boring! There's a wirlwind game on and you choose to slander a player. Just pipe down and support the teamm for once!

Why are you arguing with us? We aren't selectors. Williams should never be dropped, same for Hammy. Nice that your stats help confirm that Craig Ervine is our best batsman and that Cremer is thoroughly outbowling Utseya.

Maruma's innings of 7, 2, 32, 0, 2, 9, 1, 4, 18, 8, 13, 29, 8, 6, and 1 clearly show he is superior to all other challengers. Just in case you were wondering, yes Maruma has reached double figures against a top 8 team with a glorious 18 against Pakistan. His other double-digit scores were when he was punishing associates.

What is whirlwind about this game but for further evidence that the team's batting is pathetic?

On this evidence this team wouldn't have managed to score 120 runs in Ireland. Not sure about you but there is more cause to worry than celebrate.

If the team and the decisions were around it were beneficial, hence making the team worthy of support then maybe. But the side has two former Test batsmen as coaches, and the side's batting is going backwards not forward.

This is supposed to be a period of Zimbabwean dominance not the usual heartbreaking & hearstopping moments of old.

Basically, Zimbabwe have not grown in six years! Nine years if you want to go as far back as possible. Whatmore is being paid quite a bt to make a difference and the fans' consolation is a heart-wrenching match?

Anyway the Series is 3 matches long, and Afganistan are next. I'll do my best not to make you nauseous. Can't say the same about Whatmore's charges.
