Build Up to the t20 WC

Post by jaybro »

Interesting that the UAE have progressed through instead of Afghanistan at the Asia Cup considering the Emirates arent even in the t20 WC qualifiers .....

Shows the associates are gaining even more ground, in t20's you would say Zimbabwe are even money against all associates now .....

Taking no games for granted Honk Kong have beaten us before and Scotland are a dangerous team .....

I noticed jason Holder and Phil Simmons were at the Spurs FA clash mid week so guess our series against the Windies wont be starting this week ??

When did Hong Kong beat Zimbabwe? To my knowledge the only Associates to have ever beaten Zim are Kenya, Ireland, and Afghanistan. And recently its just the latter two.

It was quite a while ago now that HK beat Zim, it was a warmup match for an ICC tournament I believe. Haven't Uganda beaten Zimbabwe also?

Yeah, if we count those losses then we have to count warmup wins against Australia etc.

Warmups cant count beacause teams dont go 100% and often experimemt as well.

Defeats to Hong Kong or Uganda in any context are an embarrassment.

Its a warmup, so it's not technically a "defeat" imo. Even if it was, no one will ever remember. If no one remembers the tree falling in the woods, did it make a noise?

Bangladesh has lost to many associates in OFFICIAL games:

Kenya
Canada
Ireland
Netherlands
Afghanistan
Hong kong
Maybe Scotland (yes, confirmation we have lost to the Scots too)

That what is called embarassing. If ever a team started from the bottom, its Bangladesh. Ok Afghanistan beat us there.

Last t20 Wc we lost a warm up match to Hong Kong with a full strength side .....

Doesn't really matter if you count it or not we lost so we must be wary of the Hong Kong World XI ......

Of course. Every team should be wary of every other team. But records are based only on official matches. And warmup results should always be taken with a grain of salt. The Philadelphians once beat a full strength Aussie side in the US in the 1920s in transit during an Ashes series. Can't claim America has a Test win over Australia.

It annoys me a fake team like the UAE qualified for the Asia Cup over Afghanistan. There should be a rule barring fake teams like UAE, Oman, HK from competing in the world events. Just call yourself Pakistan G for pete's sake.
