[Focusing On]: Batting coach Lance Klusener

What's your take on our batting coach Lance Klusener ? He is also new to the job. What value he can add to our batsmen ?

Heath Streak thinks that he is a good appointment.

1. I feel Klusener needs to make our batsmen more mature by working on their temperament & shot selection. Hamilton Masakadza in particular needs it.

2. Klusener can work on the basics of batting also. He himself averaged above 40 with the bat in ODI, FC & list A.

3. He was a big hitter & clean striker of the ball. So, someone like Elton Chigumbura has much to learn from him. I wish Solomon Mire was around here.

4. Rotation of strike is something he has started to work on. Number of dot balls were high in the ODIs. (http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/80 ... e-klusener)
I think ideally I'd like to get there, but right now we're grappling with a few basics - like the rotation of the strike. This wasn't the ideal practice for rotation of strike, but in T20 cricket we still have got to hit boundaries at some stage. Rotation of strike is something I am sure these guys have heard many times. But when 70 per cent of the balls you face are dot balls, it is a problem and it is a basic problem and what it does is it holds you back from progressing. Because, if you want to be successful, that needs to get down to 30 per cent. That's something we're going to work on, but end of the day we have three T20s coming up so it's about what you do.
5. Sikander Raza has already acknowledged his work. (https://www.newsday.co.zw/2016/06/18/zim-has-the-nerve/)
Raza Butt said they have learnt a lot from batting coach, Lance Klusener since he started working with the group just before the onset of this tour.

“Klusener has been brilliant since he came, but unfortunately, we have not done any justice to what he taught us. The coach (Makhaya Ntini) brings in a lot of energy, but Klusener has taught us to be cool and composed. We hope to show to the world what we have learnt from them.”
6. I'm not sure he may be a tactician. He was the head coach of South African franchise side Dolphins & under him they won a T20 trophy. May be someone can elaborate on his coaching stint of Dolphins & what he brought to the table.

Opinions ?

I hope he works with the likes of Elton Raza Vusi and Chamu on dealing with spin bowling.Elton clearly was struggling to rotate the strike against the Indian leg spinner. If Vusi really wants to move into the middle order permanently he also needs to work on it hard..u rarely see the guys mentioned trying a sweep shot for example..technical execution is key
