Zimbabwe test team in 12 months time?

Post by watermelon »

In 12 months this is what Id like the test team to be with further test developments.

Im aiming to bring young indigenous yout into the team and have a steady blend of older heads with.

I believe the team below should be able to fight for a top 5 spot with gradual transition and a years coaching.

1 Tino Mawoyo
2 Chamu Chibhabha
3 Hamilton Masakadza
4 Gary Chiramuuta
5 Vusi Sibanda
6 Prince Masvaure
7 Regis Chakabva
8 Richarm Ngarava/Mutumbami
9 Donald Tiripano
10 Gerald Aliseni
11 M'shangwe

Coach:
Stanley Timoni

No Ervine, Williams, or Cremer? They'll struggle for top 5 in Africa, mate. Namibia and Uganda are rising and Kenya is rebuilding as well.

Cremer is the best spinner at the moment, but with another year under his belt, M'shangwe should gradually overtake him.

Williams is not up to it and fading, Prince/Regis is already better and Richmond and Chirimuuta arent that far behind.

Ervine is very 50/50 with some of the above names improving, but its always best to go with the indigenous option in these circumstances where it will be a close call. He would still be around the squad and get a call up after a few injuries.

Agreed. Mutambami is world class. Ngarava is sure to bounce back after being fired from his UK club ! Ervine is rubbish, when was the last time he did anything? Taylor should also not come back and Prosper should be assistant coach to Ntini.

You almost had it STONEMAN but I've never seen Keefe score a fifty before. And Lake is another wasted talent who has lost his Rhythm.

Burl
Moor
Ervine(c)
Masvaure
Williams
Chigumbura
Bruce
W.Masakadza
Panyangara
Diplock
Aliseni

I think Bowie is not much of a wicket taker and is thus suitable for one dayers where he can keep the runs dry. Much like how NZs Milne is quick but not a test bowler
