not too sure how I feel about this..its a really tough decision coz the 2 tier route guarantees us test cricket which is probably full funded but at the same time watching what happened between Sri Lanka and Australia also shows how unfair it could be to deny a team like Sri Lanka the right to play against top teams. playing New Zealand also showed me that teams like Ireland or Afghanistan would stand no chance against the top teams just because they can beat us. the crowds around the world are also quite disappointing excluding England Australia and India..it just might be the end of test cricket especially if the world t20 starts to run every 2 years again

This way guarantees games for Zimbabwe and ZC should be begging for it. The fact that they aren't means they want the once a year pay day against India or the once a decade game against Australia or England and don't give a shit about the cricketers. But we knew that already.

Agreed.

2 tiers would be excellent for Zim. Would force them to play a decent amount, and against teams where the fixtures should be competitive. Promotion would also be a lucrative, glorious prize, should it ever happen.

Also... No one is suggesting that SL wouldn't be in the top tier! They are 6th in the rankings, so no problem. Windies, Bang, Zim, Ire, Afgh as a 2nd division.

Why cant they just make it so that every team has to play each other at least once every two years.

Still allows room for the ashes every 6 weeks as per.

I dont like it because it skewers records.

i thought about it further in the 20 seconds since my last post.

Every team should be forced to play a home and away series againmst every other team in a home/away series. Even if its just a standalone test.

Cricket is a such a bizarrely run sport in comparison to all other international sports. Our premier form of the game has no tournament and no clear champion.

In a world where everything is so commercialised, I don't really mind that Test cricket is more ad-hoc and hasn't sold out and become oversaturated like T20 and ODI.

Zim play so few Tests it's almost like a special event whenever we do play a game. I think ideally we want to have 4 or 5 Tests a year. So if we stick with the current system (sprinkled with a few more Test matches) then I think it's okay.

That era of cricket is over and the purists (I'm at the top of that list) just have to deal with it. The Golden Age of cricket is behind us. The 2 tier is absolutely The way forward if we want to play more than a test a year. That promotion/relegation thing is huge incentive to pull out all the stops. What is limiting the time available for Tests are the 5 T20 festivals that they play every year. Everyone wants a go because they pay so well. Now with 5 though each one pays less and the English one has kept it to a more conservative County format.
The ICC needs some solutions to this Test dilemma urgently.

I don't understand why they don't rugby 7sify the t20 formats to have multiple games played on a day. Condense the format a bit

Just For the TV viewership and those rights, I guess. They need to maximise their profits. They do it a bit in the IPL though
