Ntini slams Whatmore, Masakadza; wanted Panny as skipper

Some good, and some bizarre assessments. And not sure how ZC can take his report as gospel when Ntini himself was just starting off with his tenure at the time, but here goes all the gory details: http://www.wisdenindia.com/cricket-news ... ire/227235

Main points:

1. Zimbabwe’s players were “selfish” individuals who “didn’t play the game hard enough”
2. Captain Hamilton Masakadza “a weak leader”
3. Hugely unimpressed by several aspects of Whatmore’s tactics
4. Disagreed with team tactics, particularly the tactic of the opening batters going at the same pace. One batter should go for it while one stuck around and batted deep.
5. Senior players should take charge of the match
6. Not happy with the bowlers for “not following instructions”
7. Preferred Tinashe Panyangara to be appointed Zimbabwe’s captain in the event that Masakadza was removed
8. Felt Hamilton was uncommunicative and needed to speak more during team meetings
9. Players are worried about their own averages. The head coach and the captain should demand results
10. Felt that it was wrong to select Chatara for WT20, who was not fully fit and was struggling with his leg. He thought that at most Chatara was 60 percent fit

So, was Ntini hired as an insider (snitch?) by the ZC before WT20 to observe the proceedings to come up with this report? Was he already earmarked to take over as head coach when he came in? At least now we know the mystery behind Hamilton's sacking. Or do we?

Retrospectively, based on how things imploded when Ntini himself became head coach, how much importance can you give to his (quite a few correct) observations? Could he do anything he wanted to see theoretically on the field? It appeared as if it only got much worse.

Does this mean criticizing someone else is easy, but when you are asked to take control of things yourself, do you have a plan to execute?

To be fair, most of Ntini's observations have truth in them. Masakadza is useless, Chatara wasn't fit, Whatmore was clueless, and our senior players don't take charge.

Ntini is useless coach, loves to talk in the media, more then his role as coach, hence he is not given a coaching role even in local leagues of South Africa

to be honest I agree with most of Makhaya's comments especially when it comes to the bowling..as I have been saying u can't win a test match with guys bowling below 130 unless u prepare the slowest of pitches. senior players have been playing for their salaries only for years they just don't have a winning mentality and this is why they blow so many good game situations..its sad really.

as for Masakadza I wouldnt know the exact details but it seems like a lot of ZC administrators have never really liked him and definitely used this report to strip him off the captaincy.

My estimation of your team mascot has gone up a notch.

The fact that he wanted Panyangara as captain of our national side speaks volumes. That comment alone proves Ntini is not a serious coach or human being. I've spoken to Panyangara a couple times and he is just an immature arrogant clown. As he looks on TV.
