Will the floodlights be released from customs in 2017?
So as the story goes, the HSC floodlights have been stuck in customs for the last 6 years - just about to be cleared.
Will this be the year where they finally get released and Harare can experience the thrills and spills of day/night cricket?

Day Night Cricket can also improve financial condition of Zimbabwe.
It will be best if both HSC & Victoria Falls gets flood light, more crowds will turn up, and Zimbabwe can also become a centre to host ICC Tournaments.
Zimbabwe Cricket Board also needs Super Soppers so, that important games doesn't get washed out with little rainfall

I told you guys before- the top part of the towers that holds the lights is upside down, that's a big job to sort that out.brmtaylor.com admin wrote:So as the story goes, the HSC floodlights have been stuck in customs for the last 6 years - just about to be cleared.

The lights have been in containers in the car park for a few years, which is not where they would be if there was a customs issue, unless the car park is a bonded warehouse!
I'm sure they need at least two, if not four, back up generators. I stand to be corrected, but I don't think they have those yet.
I think we need to get a game going in broad daylight first before we start thinking about playing a day/night game.
It would be great to know what the original problem was- highly likely that they were under-invoiced to pay less duties, but also curious why it took so long to resolve the issue. Usually the fine for any infraction is a 100% penalty, but can't imagine why it wasn't resolved at higher levels.

Of course they may have been imported by Dominus (which may or may not be still operational), in which case ownership and payment of the duties/fine may have been a part of the issue.

Some night cricket would be pretty cool though, and would attract enough people to pay for the electricity/diesel bill.

Googly, are you able to provide pictorial evidence of the incorrect tower installation?

I see the problem - anyone going in to collect the lights is being eaten by the lion.eugene wrote:Maybe the lion is in customs also?

Maybe ZC could enlist the services of Walter Palmer and Innocent Chinyoka - between the two of them I'm sure they could take care of the lion situation and acquire the goods.
