Ryan Murray

Post by brmtaylor.com admin »

Clearly a cut above U-19 level, scored runs in that game against Free State as well. Why not give him a few ODIs?
Solves our wicket keeping problem too.

We naming our XI's again  May as well join in, for what it's worth.

1. Ryan Burl (Love the idea of this guy opening)
2. Hamilton Mazakadza
3. Craig Ervine
4. Sean Williams
5. Tarisai Musakanda
6. Sikander Raza
7. PJ Moor (Wkt)
8. Nevile Madziva
9. Graeme Cremer
10. Carl Mumba
11. Tendai Chisoro

12th man: Ryan Murray. Can't justify him being in the side to be honest chaps. I've left out Chibahba and slotted Burn and Muzakanda in there, but not sure who else to drop to give the kid a run in the side. Madziva and Cremer bolster the bottom order as it is. If Moor's keeping doesn't improve then maybe there's a slot up the order for him but otherwise I can't see it happening anytime soon.

I like Sloan's side right mix of youth and experience .....

Still hoping Tendai Chatara comes good ......

As for Murray I guess it all depends on how he goes against Afghanistan A .....

The good thing is at least whites are getting chances in A team tours and being fast tracked to the national side. Its the only hope Zim has stopping their current slide.

Want to see Burl and Murray along with Ngarava (tall, 140 kph U19 seamer) make the squad for the next series.

Plenty of time for Burl to get fit!

If any player can reach to the level of Andy Flower thats Ryan Murray, fine wicket keeper batsman. Moor is average. Chakabva & Mutumbami are fully rubbish

Chibhabha is a failure, opens the batting, played 100 matches still to hit an odi ton, part time medium fast also looks less threatening.

Tiripano is a better bowler in odi then Madziva, got change of pace deliveries.

Chisoro / Nathan Waller good for the allround spot. Masakadza is flop needs to be benched. Musakanda and Burl should open both are talented

Moor is an excellent batsman, his keeping is not too slick though. Even if he improves he will always be a made keeper and not a natural. He should always make our team as a pure batsman. In my view you choose the captain and the keeper first.
I would really like to see Ryan get a game. We've seen the other keepers and he's better. He would need to adjust to the national spinners, but he should do that fairly easily as he's got the talent. It's decision time for him if he gets selected because I'm certain he's going to Uni. If I were him I'd take a gap year and maybe UNISA and see how it goes.

Why is it always one and the other?

Why can't they just do what I did and do uni by correspondence while I lived the Vegas life?

In this case id recommend part time Uni (like a lot of pro athletes do) and pursue your cricket dreams.

Murray is needed by his country in the number 7 or 8 behind cremer.

its an interesting opportunity for Murray although I feel somewhere in the back of his mind he has to be worried that Gumbie might be elevated to the senior team before him as the keeper. to be fair Gumbie has played over 20 first class matches too .

this next A series against Afghanistan might make or break a few careers. I hope Musakanda Burl Murray Mumba Chari Nyauchi Gumbie Madziva Welly PJ Mavuta Ngarava and other promising players make the majority of the squad. we need to see the next crop of players play.
