World Cup Qualifier a Year Away

Qualification to 2019 world cup is very vital for Zimbabwe cause. The qualifier now likely to take place now in UK instead of Bangladesh as they likey to make it to top 8 before September cut off. It is very important now for Taibu and company to rope in players like Brendon Taylor, Sean Ervive, Kyle Jarvis to represnt zimbabwe in the qualifiers as they would have a fair bit of experience in playing in those conditions. Its make or break moment for Zim cricket. Zim got test status way back in 1992, its been 25 years and still they are at par with associates like Afghanistan & Ireland and may be even worse.

They cant keep afford to perform poorly every time and still expect their status to be permanent and money flowing in. Sooner or Later ICC may decide to pull the plug. There would be only two places for grab, One spot may be looking guaranteed with West indies grabbing it as they likely to make sure their top players like gayle, simmons and pollard play in that tournament.

How do you suggest that ZC 'rope in' Taylor, Ervine and Jarvis? that would require giving them a paycheck, which is something the three of them are now used to, and something that ZC are most unlikely to do

Patriotism is one thing, paying the bills is something different

No chance with Sean Ervine or Kyle Jarvis, Brendan Taylor might come back as this season will be his last according to the Kolpak Deal.

Instead Taibu & Co. should try young players like Malcolm Lake, Calum Price, Adam Kefee, Nick Welch, Brendan Diplock, Evans etc. who are playing local cricket leagues in UK for some time now

Taylor is probably the only guy who will come back. I think a guy who is not based there but will be vital for those conditions is Brian Vitori. we need him back, bowling quick, legally and full of confidence.

as for the batsmen I think the lineup is pretty much full if we get Taylor back. Taylor Williams Ervine and Raza will be the core middle order supported by PJ Burl and Musakanda. that's 7 guys already. Mire and Hami can be added to those guys to make the squad. we need to get these guys performing consistently.

the academy might be a huge trump card if it works the way its supposed to. Mumba Ngarava Burl and Musakanda will get 6 months of consistent cricket in those conditions which will get them pumped up. when PJ came back from a club stint he was fired up and made the national team within a couple of months. hopefully it will do the same to the other guys if not more.

I doubt Ervine and Jarvis will come back. Maybe Malcolm Lake.

Sean could get dumped at anytime,
I think he might want to have a swan song with his brother - at least it's not outside the realms of possibility.

Who knows if Vitori is really chucking or not. My theory is almost any bowler will fail the "test". How is it that Vitori takes the test 3 times in 10 months and gets a different result each time (fail, pass, fail)? That too he gets reported on his first game back and banned again...seems very fishy to me.

The test has horribly sensitivity and accuracy at the very least.

I say all this because Taskin, who's action was always clean, gets banned (right after a beef with India no less) in India by an Indian umpire. 6 months later passes his test with an unchanged action! He's been bowling continously for 6 months in all formats of the game in BD, NZ, India, and hasnt been reported yet. WTF!

Vitori looks like he chucks. Using the naked eye. The test was brought in to justify Murali, not to sort out chucking. The large amount of flex now allowed is what causes these issues for the players that are sometimes 14 degrees sometimes 18, sometimes 16.

I have often wondered if we should legalize chucking and ball-tampering. May help bring things back to an equal battle between bat and ball.

Taskin also looks like "chucks" to the naked eye, both before and after he was banned (only tiny change in his action). But when you watch slo mo videos from the front on angle, you can see that Taskin never had any appreciable degree of flexion-extension of his bowling arm once it reaches the shoulder level (the point from which chucking measurements are made).

Maybe Vitori is similar.

If you notice side on views of most finger spinners, there arms are also bent quite a bit. Most bowlers chuck, if Taskin is chucking. A few like Amir, Jimmy Anderson, Mehedi have totally clean actions.

Is there any article or link that proves that the current 15 degree rule was brought just to make Murali legal? I heard all bowlers, even Michael Holding had some degree of extension although to the naked eye it appears totally straight.
