Dean Du Plessis Retires

Was snooping on Taibu's twitter and saw that Dean has decided to move on from cricketing journalism/commentary. A real shame if so. Not sure if he reads this or not (yes, I know) but if he does I would love him to know that I thought he was a great commentator and only ever thought "he's a great commentator, not he's a great commentator and he can't see".
I loved his knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for all things Zim.
Good luck on his new life and maybe he can start posting here!

Yes, sadly Dean is not being given enough opportunities to continue his commentating, so he decided he needed to go for the security of a full-time job.

Didn't he always have a full time job with the cricket thing being a side dish.

Yes he did announce it at the beginning of the month but it got more visibility when Taibu tweeted. He's come back from such "retirements" before to write articles on cricket so here's hoping...

Great to have you here again Mr. Ward!

Don't think so. Locals can confirm. This is something he would always complain about on Twitter regularly, trying and hoping to make a career in Cricket broadcasting but not getting opportunities. Looks like he has decided to finally move on...
He does have enormous memory and insights to quote from though, will be missed in the cricketing circles...

Was he the blind commentator? And was he a Zimbabwean?

Anyone know what his fulltime job is? Not like Zimbabwe can have many opportunities for a blind white guy.

... CSD agent
That's some journey from cricket to gay pride! Although it comes as a mild surprise that Harare's Christopher Street Day can afford an agent
On a serious note: I wish Dean all the best. His commentary will surely be missed by many.
