Special mention to Chatara - 6 overs, 11 runs, 2 wickets, 1.83 economy (surely the Dutch would have booked the next flight back home if Panyangara was bowling in the opposite end today ). Brilliant from Chatara! We can do another two for bowlers and batsmen I think the key players are here as well. Excellent ton from Mire, and brave bowling from Hami. Thought Williams shoul dhave converted that into a ton, but a good half century all the same.

I think ngarava did well too getting the wickets up front though a worse economy.
Excited to see what blessing muzarabani can do. Might have been tempted to fast track him in these matches

At this stage, all we have hear is that he is tall, has a bit of gas and also quite mediocre according to Flakeman. Assuming the truth might lie somewhere in between, he wont be ready for at least another year!

This net runs format is ridiculous though, allrounders get punished for actually bowling, Mire will automatically come out on top because he rarely bowls. No credit for wickets either! You need a better system here pariah.

Statguru/Cricinfo use the same system, except they employ the difference between batting average and bowling averages - which takes into consideration wicekts.

So relax. In the end it will be included. No point doing it after one match. Unless you're unbeaten, your batting score is your batting average, and if you don't take wickets like Williams and Raza, your stats become horrible. I was actually kinder this way.

Difference between batting and bowling averages would certainly be preferable.

I actually have an even better system. Rate the all-rounder's batting vs all other specialist batsmen. That tells how good he is as a specialist batter, even if he isn't one (eg Ashwin or Jadeja). Then rate the all-rounder's bowling vs all specialist bowlers, even if he isn't one (eg Sean Williams or Sikander Raza). The simply average the two together. Thus a Jacques Kallis would have a very high rating whereas a Daniel Vettori would have a significantly lower one (although still very high relative to other all-rounders).

That is definitely a good way to assess them. But one can also look at those two components in isolation to not be extremely critical of an all-rounder who is not regularly contributing with both disciplines as long as he is one of the leading contributors to the team's cause in one of the disciplines. Something like an Angelo Mathews the batsman for example.

But when they do perform across disciplines across formats regularly, the impact is there in our face, like a Moeen Ali, or Hardik Pandya for India these days, so these stats must reflect that.

If Mire scores a ton he can definitely refuse to bowl..
If Malcolm Waller struggles in the first test with the bat ...Musakanda should replace him..
The test team should include 4 specialist bowlers because part time bowlers won't get Chris Gayle out...
