http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/ ... f-salaries
Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has been hit by a financial crunch which could affect salaries for all employees, including players.

The official refused to elaborate on the reasons for the cash-flow problems

"The situation is no different to any other company that is experiencing severe cash flow difficulties..."

The ongoing two-Test series against West Indies in Bulawayo is set to be the board's biggest expense this month, and it has also spent money on hosting domestic competitions and upgrades for grounds to host the 2019 World Cup Qualifier next March.

ZC heeds ICC advice, Southern Rocks to be dissolved
HARARE - Troubled Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has confirmed a streamlining exercise which will see domestic franchise Southern Rocks being
dissolved alongside a large scale retrenchment of employees country-wide
.

As exclusively reported by the Daily News last week that Masvingo-based Southern Rocks was set to be sacrificed, ZC spokesman Lovemore
Banda confirmed that a recommendation to disband Rocks was sent to the board.

"A recommendation was made by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as a contribution to the Zimbabwe Cricket business plan which we are
working on together with them, that considering the resources available to us, it would make business sense to reduce the franchises from five to
four
," Banda told the Daily News.

"After due consideration of the ICC recommendation, the ZC Cricket Committee has endorsed it and, considering the resources available to each
franchise to build on the subsistence ZC support and thus take the game to the level we envisaged when we set up the franchises, the committee
has recommended to the ZC Board that Southern Rocks be the franchise to be dissolved
.

"This is just a recommendation at this stage and so a matter on the table. Until such a time as the ZC Board considers it and makes a decision,
there is nothing to communicate to the franchise serve that because of the current economic climate which has seen many local companies
downsizing and many others closing altogether, ZC will not be able to renew the contracts of some of its employees nation-wide, which position is
being communicated to the employees around the country right now."

Southern Rocks has largely been a weaker joint of the five franchise teams. Since the inception of the franchise system in 2010, it took them
three years to win their maiden first-class encounter against Mashonaland Eagles at Harare Sports Club in November 2012.

The victory came courtesy of a declaration match after rain had disrupted play on day two and three forcing the hosts to declare early in their first
innings with Rocks having forfeited their second innings.

The Rocks were however slowly growing into a solid unit with exciting players such as Richmond Mutumbami and Brian Vitori emerging from
Masvingo to become Test cricketers.

"We are still looking at the whole structure of ZC as part of the business plan that we are crafting with the help of the ICC," added Banda.

"Therefore at this time we cannot say specifically what other cost-cutting measures will be implemented. The fact is though that we will have to
cut our cloth to suit our size. That is critical for the survival of the game in Zimbabwe. Every other organisation is undergoing a similar process in the country. ZC cannot be immune to the strategic reviews going on around us
."

The Pakii thought he was superman and the ICC sent him paking.
